    Rohingya Culture Center Background:

The Rohingya Culture Center (RCC) was founded in 2016 in the heart of Chicago’s West Ridge/West Rogers Park neighborhood to meet the needs of the city’s growing Rohingya refugee population. Since 2010, over 600 Rohingya families have resettled in Chicago, and RCC has become a vital resource, offering language classes, employment support, youth programs, and access to social services. RCC serves not only the Rohingya but also other refugee and immigrant communities seeking assistance.

    Position Overview:

The Youth Program Coordinator at the Rohingya Culture Center (RCC) will be a key member of our team, supporting refugee children and families in navigating educational systems and achieving academic success. The role involves assisting with school enrollment, coordinating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for children, and overseeing after-school programs. The Coordinator will also manage after-school staff/volunteers, develop social-emotional learning activities, and work closely with case managers to help families build self-sufficiency. In addition, the Coordinator will be expected to meet specific performance metrics, including enrollment targets, volunteer engagement, and program impact goals. Success in this role will be measured by the ability to effectively track and report on these metrics, ensuring that families and children receive the support they need.

Organize family engagement activities like parent orientations and “Mommy and Me” support groups.

School Enrollment & IEP Coordination (K-12):

Help refugee families enroll their children in K-12 schools, managing the process and ensuring compliance with local educational systems.

Coordinate IEPs for K-12 students and encourage parental involvement in school activities and conferences.

Plan and implement a summer program for refugee children (e.g., academic enrichment, summer camp).

    After-School Program Management:

Oversee after-school tutoring and academic support, ensuring students’ safety and the smooth operation of the program.

Develop academic enrichment and social-emotional learning activities, such as workshops, guest speakers, and educational events.

Track student progress and ensure measurable outcomes are achieved, including academic improvement and increased engagement in RCC activities.

    Volunteer Coordination & Outreach:

Recruit and manage volunteers from local universities and community organizations to support after-school programming.

Conduct background checks and ensure all volunteers adhere to RCC policies and safety guidelines.

Monitor volunteer engagement and retention, ensuring they meet program goals and deliverables.

    Collaboration with Case Managers:

Work closely with case managers to integrate educational goals into the family self-sufficiency plans.

Connect families with additional resources to ensure they are receiving holistic support to reach self-sufficiency.

    Meeting Program Metrics:

Track and meet performance metrics such as school enrollment targets, volunteer hours, student attendance, and academic progress.

Regularly assess and report on program outcomes to ensure that goals are being met and adjust strategies when necessary to stay on track.

Contribute to quarterly and annual reports on program success, including data-driven insights on the impact of RCC’s services.

    Reporting:
