    Under close supervision, this Youth Workshop Leader position works closely with the job seeker to provide communication skills, self-esteem to enhance their understanding of potential educational and career goals. Performs job readiness, job search workshops, leadership training and mentorship to develop the soft skills needed to gain entry into employment. Provide exceptional customer service to all workforce system users.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assesses job seekers potential through various information gathering sources.
    • Develops individualized action plans that aim to improve soft and hard skills needed to enter employment.
    • Develops, coordinates, and facilitates Youth Leadership Training opportunities.
    • Mentors Coordination (Connecting customers with the community).
    • Develops customer activities to increase self-esteem, communication skills, problem solving, teamwork, crisis management, time management, conflict resolution, coping skills and self-confidence.
    • Conducts evaluations to measure skill attainment of job seekers
    • Facilitates job readiness and job search workshops to empower customer in their job search by providing interviewing techniques, application completion processes and appropriate dress attire recommendations.
    • Facilitates entry into customized training opportunities for customers and group orientations.
    • Conducts trainings, workshops, seminars and or classes for customers.
    • Provides guidance to customers on labor market trends, growth and opportunities.
    • Prepares customers in developing interviewing skills and office etiquette.
    • Tracks and maintains records of participation in skills development activities for inclusion in customer case files.
    • Works closely with career counselors towards monthly and quarterly customer employment placement goals.
    • Collaborates with other programs, agencies or organizations on skills development activities.
    • Develops community partnerships, builds relationships, and performs outreach and recruitment through community involvement.
    • Assists with coordination of job development, work experience and professional mentoring services.
    • Data enters all services according to policies and procedures accurately and timely in the appropriate systems.
    • Provides excellent customer service to center customers
    • Performs additional related duties as assigned

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in a relevant field of study, or;
    • Associate degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study, and two (2) years of work experience in the public or private sector, preferably in workforce development, or;
    • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited educational institution with four (4) years of work experience in the public or private sector, preferably in workforce development.
    • Public speaking experience.
    • Must have considerable skill in interviewing techniques.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated customer service skills, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
    • Demonstrated computer skills, with experience using word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
    • Familiarity with the communities being served, with knowledge and understanding of local needs and resources.
    • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with management, coworkers, workers from other programs and outside agencies, as well as the public.
    • May be required to utilize a personal automobile for our agency’s related business requiring a current valid driver’s license and current automobile liability insurance.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands for finger coordination, reach with arms and hands, pulling standard file cabinet and vertical file drawers, lift/carry 10 pounds of paper, drive a vehicle, stoop, kneel, talk and hear. Occasional travel required.
