    Zag Bio was founded with a vision to develop more precise, potent, and impactful medicines for immune-mediated diseases. Zag Bio is working to discover and develop therapies targeted directly to the thymus, with the goal of generating central immune tolerance.

    Our technology platform is inspired by the work of co-founder Diane Mathis of Harvard Medical School and operates across multiple therapeutic platforms, underpinned by a deep technical interrogation of thymus biology. In addition to Dr. Mathis, Zag Bio was co-founded by Alan Crane (Polaris Partners), Jo Viney (Seismic Therapeutics), and John Kulman (Zag Bio). Zag Bio is a stealth mode biotech company, poised for growth in line with our ambition to transform the treatment of immune-mediated diseases.

    We are seeking a laboratory-based Immunologist with expertise in regulatory T cell biology to contribute thought leadership and help drive the development of the company’s novel therapeutics for autoimmune disease. This role will require a passion for collaboration and will involve a high level of engagement with colleagues in therapeutic and platform development teams.

    Job responsibilities

    In this role, you will report to the Director of Immunology and integrally contribute to determining the mechanisms of action of novel thymus-directed therapeutics. You will:

    Apply your creativity and foundational background in immunology to the development of novel therapeutics for autoimmune diseases.

    Formulate hypotheses, design and implement immunological assays and models, and evaluate results to elucidate therapeutic mechanism of action.

    Support in vivo studies of autoimmune disease and immune function.

    Develop and execute project plans as part of a collaborative cross-functional team.

    Prepare scientific presentations and present data in team and company meetings and to senior management.

    Provide support, training and mentoring to lab team as appropriate.

    Author research reports and relevant sections of regulatory documents to support first-in-human studies and contribute to intellectual property filings.

    Document research activities and findings in electronic laboratory notebook and reagent registries in keeping with the highest industry standards.

    Required Experience

    Extensive hands-on research experience and subject matter expertise with regulatory T cells, suppressor assays and T cell phenotyping.

    Familiarity with the application of single-cell genomics methods to understanding immune cell biology.

    Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic cross-functional environment.

    Experience mentoring junior scientists, research associates, technicians and/or interns.

    Qualifications

    Ph.D. in Immunology or related field with 2+ years of industry or highly relevant academic (post-doctoral) experience

    A track record of impactful research in T cell immunology as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications.
