    ZANTECH IS LOOKING FOR A SYSTEMS ENGINEER  TO SUPPORT OUR FEDERAL CLIENT'S MISSION CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE.

    The Systems Engineer will work with the Engineering team to automate the creation, maintenance, and reporting of Windows/Linux Server images that are DOD STIG'd, patched, and secure. Must be willing to interact with other people at all levels throughout the organization and must be a team player with an outstanding ability to identify and troubleshoot hardware and software issues across a variety of systems and platforms.

     May be part of the “24 x 7 On Call” rotation with flex-time so off-hours and/or shift work may be required for this position in the future, in which troubleshooting and support activities may be needed.

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Developing/Automating Windows and Linux server operating system settings.
    • Engineer automated updates as needed for PaaS Platform models and delivery.
    • Automate the building, patching, application of the STIG, and vulnerability remediation into the provisioning process both the Windows and Linux server operating system images, including interconnectivity with various technical automation products.
    • Automate the deployment of developed STIG and vulnerability remediation solutions to existing Windows and Linux server operating system servers across multiple sites.
    • Update/automate server reporting
    • Perform vulnerability assessments across various Server platforms including DISA STIG analysis using ACAS (Nessus), STIG checklists, and/or  SCAP.
    • Test STIG automation updates against various USCG server platforms and applications
    • Troubleshoot application compatibility with various STIG requirements, and resolve those incompatibilities with technical fixes where possible.
    • Work with applications to research and remediate image/patch/STIG incompatibility issues and support those applications with the OSC CCB requirements and process.
    • Providing technical input for policies and procedures, maintaining accurate documentation on those policies/procedures.
    • Adhering to Change/Configuration Management procedures and policies.
    • Properly estimating work efforts and technical challenges (scoping projects).
    • Research, investigate, and diagnose problems, providing resolution or recommending viable solutions for hardware and software issues, appropriately escalating and reporting recommendations clearly and effectively to management and team.
    • Research and remediate vulnerabilities.
    • Accurately enter host tracking and service approval information in internal DB
    • Assist Project Manager in gathering system metrics for reporting purposes

    REQUIRED SECURITY CLEARANCE:

    This position is open to US citizens only and requires applicants to successfully obtain a NACI prior to start date per contract requirements.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • 5+ years of experience supporting Windows Server.
    • Ability to participate on 24x7 on-call rotation with flex-time, accepting calls during the night to support the Windows servers
    • Experience with server security hardening and security implementation strategies in support of  DoD requirements (STIG, NIST SP 800, FISMA, et al)
    • Associate's degree with 5-10 years of experience OR Bachelor's Degree with 2-5 years of experience.
    • DoD 8570 security certification: IAT II or III (Security+, CCNA, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CASP, CCNP, CISA, CISSP, GCED, or GCIH certificate.)

    PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to work well in a team environment, promote customer service, and handle complex technical issues
    • Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to clearly, accurately, and concisely communicate technical information in both oral and written formats
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
    • Experience with server automation tools, preferably BMC's True Sight Server Automation Suite
    • Experience with blade servers and/or server virtualization, preferably BladeLogic Server Automation
    • Knowledge of Python/Jython
    • Knowledge of Javascript
    • Desirable: Familiarity with USCG OSC systems and operations
    • Desirable: Experience supporting Linux Server Operating Systems
