    Position Summary: The Executive Director is responsible for the oversight of the complete day-to-day operations of Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln and provides overall leadership in accordance with the policies, objectives, and directions of the Board of Directors to promote its overall vision, directions, health, and growth.

    Essential Job Functions:

    Leadership Responsibilities

    • Lead all aspects of the Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln office, and of ReStore, Habitat’s discount home improvement store.
    • Supports, enhances and upholds the organizations mission and purpose.
    • Responsible for developing, evolving and maintaining the organizations brand image in the community.
    • Ensure Habitat for Humanity policies are maintained by the Board, Committees, and staff. Responsible for public accountability of the organization and implementation of policies adopted by the Board.
    • Serve as the communication link between the Board, the Executive Committee, and other ad-hoc committees.
    • Prepare monthly agenda and report for Executive Committee and Board of Directors meeting in coordination with the Board President, including financial, construction, fundraising, and ReStore updates.
    • Provides direction for all public and community relationships with Habitat for Humanity.
    • Operates Habitat for Humanity in compliance with all applicable regulations and statutes of regulatory, accreditation and funding agencies.
    • Assist the Board with long-term planning through the implementation of a strategic plan.
    • Provide leadership for fundraising, marketing, and partner relations.
    • Maintain close working relationships with construction manager(s) and/or general contractors, including working knowledge of site progress to ensure that projects are built within time and budgetary parameters. Ensure appropriate training and safety for all volunteers.
    • Provide oversight to Habitat ReStore by coordinating with ReStore Management to see that the policies, procedures, goals, and mission of the ReStore are effectively carried out.
    • Oversee the orientation, training, evaluation, and nurturance of board members, volunteers, and staff, to help ensure they are making worthwhile and fulfilling contributions to the work of the organization.
    • Meet with Habitat International field staff and attend training events, as appropriate.

    Financial Responsibilities

    • Communicate with the Treasurer and bookkeeper to maintain knowledge and oversight of accounts payable, deposits, sign checks, and ensure adherence to full internal financial controls for all financial procedures.
    • Develops annual budgets and operates programs within budgetary guidelines. Ensures sound fiscal management.
    • Oversee the creation of the Annual Fund Development Plan.
    • Serve as liaison to secure and assist with annual audit.

    Development Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership for solicitation of major gifts, including identifying and meeting with major corporate and individual donors.
    • Work with the fundraising team to establish and implement development strategies including appropriate donor and volunteer appreciation and events.
    • Support development team in relationships with giving entities.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    • Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to establish, foster, and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, the public, local City government, and community service agencies.
    • Ability to strategically plan for the overall organization while following through on initiatives with financial conscientiousness.
    • Passionate about Habitat for Humanity’s mission and emits positivity to all.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required.
    • Three or more years of work experience in a management role leading a team, preferred.
    • Experience being involved with non-profit work, outside of employment, preferred.
    • Previous retail management experience, preferred.
    • E-Commerce experience, preferred.
    • Knowledge of accounting principles, mortgage procedures, personnel supervision, and fundraising experience, desirable.
    • Proven record of experience dealing with both professional persons and lay individuals.
    • Knowledge of volunteer assistance and recruitment programs also desirable.
