Position Summary

The Commercial and Residential Roofing Estimator will gather, analyze, and prepare detailed total cost information to maximize cost-effectiveness during the construction process. This employee will visit project sites to gather necessary client required information and analyze proposals, specifications, blueprints, and construction documents to thoroughly understand the project. This employee will work closely with construction project managers to coordinate and oversee the vendors and subcontractors bid process. The Commercial and Residential Roofing Estimator will determine the time, labor, construction materials, and product costs for each project and communicate these requirements to the clients.

Essential Job Functions

• Visit multiple job sites conducting roof surveys and meet with clients to assess requirements, take measurements, photos, and collect data.
• Estimate and bid potential jobs.
• Prepare and analyze proposals, blueprints, specifications, interpretations, etc.
• Prepare material quotes, fabrication labor, and construction labor requirement, quote project pricing, bid abstracts.
• Prepare itemized lists and summaries.
• Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors and/or subcontractors, and determining cost-effectiveness.
• Consult with subcontractors, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and processes of improvement.
• Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
• Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
• Meet with clients for recommendations, requirements, issues, and plans.
• Submit proposals and material orders.
• Work closely with Sales Manager, Project Manager, and Roofing Labor contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, preferred.
• Minimum one year estimating experience in Commercial and Residential Roofing, required.
• Strong comprehensive knowledgebase of estimating techniques, engineering disciplines, cost control systems, data analysis, and strategic planning.
• Ability to estimate a variety of projects/contracts under strict deadlines.
• Ability to manage and oversee a group work as it relates to projects.
• Advance mathematical abilities and use of a 10 key calculator.
• Valid Driver’s License, required.
