Design Engineer
(Columbus, NE or Omaha, NE)
Zelle is searching for an industrious entry level engineer with keen interest in steel design to join our design team. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Structural design of steel buildings applying established engineering practices, model building codes, and company standards
- Design projects large and small, including hangars, schools, gymnasiums, retail centers, churches, sports arenas, and manufacturing facilities throughout the United States, Canada, and Central America
- Work in a team environment with estimating, sales, and drafting to define, clarify, and process projects to meet customers’ needs on individual projects
- Review project plans, specifications and building code requirements
- Convey design information to drafting, using written and verbal communication
- Assist sales, project managers, architects, and builders to determine project requirements and proper utilization of building systems to meet customer needs
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design
- Work directly under licensed engineers toward licensure
QUALIFICATIONS:
Entry Level
- B. S. Degree (Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering)
- 0 to 2 years of experience in low rise building design
- EIT certification or willing to sit for the exam
- Familiarity with AISC specifications
- Familiarity with AISI specifications, ASCE-7 standard, and model building codes is a plus
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
Senior Level
- B. S. Degree (Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering)
- 5+ years of experience in low rise metal building design
- P. E. Registration
- Proficiency with AISC, AISI, ASCE 7, and model building codes
- Experience with MBS, RISA, & Microsoft office
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
