    Position Summary: The Business Development Manager is a self-motived, driven individual responsible for growing and maintaining current and future business relationships. This position works closely with contractors and suppliers for the duration of the entire sales process from identifying new leads to closing a project. The Business Development Manager will assist the Assistant Manager with additional duties in the lumber yard and on the sales floor.

    Essential Functions:

    • Assist Seward Lumber in acquiring new customers and in the promotion of additional products and/or services to existing customers.
    • Research new areas and opportunities for sales growth.
    • Maintain and develop business-to-business, business-to-customer, and additional organizational relationships.
    • Help the Assistant Manager with additional duties for the lumber yard and sales floor as well as employees within each division as needed.
    • Implement, process, and manage customer special orders.
    • Responsible for maintaining relations with contractors as well as handling contractor issues.
    • Handle tasks essential to lumber yard and sales floor success, as they arise.
    • Assist customers with purchasing products and utilize the POS system.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    • Administration skills necessary for ordering and maintaining proper inventory levels.

    • Strong communication and presentation abilities, both orally and in writing.

    • Ability to know and adapt to target audience appropriately.
    • Time management skills to assist in maintenance of the lumber yard.

    Qualifications:

    • Prior business developments, marketing, or sales experience.
    • Prior industry or like-industry knowledge preferred.
    • Building/construction knowledge and experience.
    • Experience with social media and marketing preferred.
    • Available to travel (local travel)
