    Position Summary:

    The Director of Field Operations plays a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the construction activities of the company. This strategic leadership position involves managing diverse teams, ensuring the successful execution of multiple construction projects, and upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Develop and implement strategic plans for efficient field operations, aligning with overall company goals and objectives.
    • Provide strong leadership to field teams, including project managers, supervisors, and construction crews, ensuring a cohesive and motivated workforce.
    • Oversee multiple construction projects simultaneously, monitoring progress, budget adherence, and quality control, evaluating project status for all company projects.
    • Efficiently allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to optimize productivity and meet project timelines.
    • Monitor and inventory equipment and schedule required maintenance with mechanic when necessary.
    • Monitor and track truck usage and location of all equipment. Recommend and coordinate purchase of new equipment and tools.
    • Manage the hiring process for all field personnel, conduct interviews, onboard, and train new employees.
    • Communicate company updates, needs, and important items to filed personnel, superintendents, and project managers.
    • Communicate field personnel changes to office staff.
    • Evaluate employee wages and recommend pay scales and bonus measures for field personnel.
    • Collect, verify, and approve field employee timecards.
    • Schedule and run all superintendent meetings.
    • Attend all staff meetings.
    • Diffuse employee relation issues with field personnel and project team.
    • Collaborate with leadership and project management teams to develop and manage budgets for field operations, ensuring cost effectiveness and profitability.
    • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure construction projects meet or exceed industry standards, codes, and client expectations.
    • Establish and enforce safety protocols, ensuring a secure working environment for all personnel on construction sites. Manage and maintain OSHA 300 log.
    • Manage all insurance claims and assist in the claims process with all parties.
    • Conduct weekly safety audits of all jobsites, make corrections while on site and follow up with a written report.
    • Coordinate safety needs for all jobsites with project superintendents and project management.
    • Disperse weekly toolbox talks.
    • Coordinate, provide, and track all training opportunities and provide safety training for field personnel.
    • Maintain inventory of safety supplies, cold weather safety gear, and water for all field personnel.
    • Monitor access control and camera system for the company.
    • Manage and coordinate snow removal and weed control for all projects.
    • Monitor the warehouse and loading dock operations.
    • Interface with clients to provide updates on project status, address concerns, and maintain positive relationships, fostering client satisfaction.
    • Manage relationships with vendors and subcontractors, and ensure performance meets company standards.
    • Explore and implement construction technologies to enhance field operations, improve efficiency, and stay current with industry trends.
    • Stay informed about relevant regulations and compliance standards in the construction industry, ensuring the Company operates within legal and ethical boundaries.
    • Address and resolve issues that arise during construction projects, employing effective problem-solving skills to keep projects on track.
    • Provide regular reports to leadership on the status of ongoing projects, key performance indicators, and any challenges faced in the field.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and enhanced operational efficiency within field operations.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, preferred.
    • Proven track record with at least 5 years of progressive experience in construction management.
    • Strong leadership and management abilities with a history of effectively leading teams to achieve goals.
    • Ability to think strategically and contribute to the development and execution of organizational strategies.
    • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, methods, as well as a comprehensive understanding of building codes and regulations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions and address issues promptly.
    • In-depth understanding of safety protocols and a commitment to ensuring a safe working environment on construction sites.
    • Ability to work with a variety of personalities.
