  • Responsibilities

    Essential Job Functions

    • Follow and encourage the daily inspection program.
    • Ensure preventative maintenance is being performed on all assets in the fleet.
    • Ensure all trucks and equipment are working efficiently and safely.
    • Communicate with management on maintenance and repairs performed.
    • Test drive vehicles/operate machinery to gauge performance.
    • Run diagnostic tests and analyze the results.
    • Replace vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and brake systems.
    • Check vehicle lighting systems.
    • Diagnose causes of failures and determine the most cost-effective solution through communication with management.
    • Report equipment damage and/or abuse to management.
    • Ensure all assets are being properly greased and fluids maintained.
    • Clean and service machine attachments such as winches, blades, and side booms.
    • Clean and service small equipment such as generators, plate compactors, and jumping jacks.
    • Maintain parts inventory.
    • Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the shop.

    Qualifications

    • Valid Driver’s License.
    • Mechanical or automotive engineering degree or diploma.
    • Minimum 5 years’ mechanic experience, preferred.
    • ASE Diesel Certification.
    • Knowledge of diesel engine and heavy equipment components.
    • Proficient with maintenance and repair tools.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to work along side others, take direction, and provide training and direction.
    • Physical ability to climb on and crawl under equipment and trucks.
    • Ability to lift heavy objects.
    • Own hand tools.
    • Ability to observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
