    WHO WE ARE:

Zendar is creating a high-resolution radar imaging system that has resolution similar to lidar, allowing cars to see in inclement weather. We are a team of electrical, mechanical, software engineers and researchers developing the next generation radar technology. We want to change the role of radar in the autonomous driving sensor stack and demonstrate that radars can take on many of the functions of lidar at a much lower cost and in all weather conditions.

Zendar was founded in the San Francisco Bay area, at the very heart of one of the most advanced regions in the development of autonomous vehicles technologies. We also opened an office in South Germany to capitalize on the decades of experience in the automotive radar industry of the area, and are setting up a new office in Paris.

Zendar has a diverse and dynamic team of electrical, mechanical, RF, algorithms and software engineers with deep background in sensing technology. Zendar is backed by Tier-1 VCs, has raised more than $25M in funding and has established strong partnerships with industry leaders.

    WHO YOU ARE:

A highly motivated, self starting individual who has a keen interest in neural networks, perception/3D object detection, and autonomous navigation. In this position you will:

    • Research, design and implement state-of-the-art deep neural network architectures for 3D object detection and velocity estimation
    • Utilize simulation and data augmentation techniques to reduce the gap between training and test accuracy
    • Design and implement sensor fusion algorithms tailored to our perception pipeline architecture
    • Build and enhance automatic label generation solutions using sensor fusion

    WHAT WE LOOK FOR:

While we are open to many combinations of education and hands-on experience in various technical disciplines, our ideal candidate has:

    • Completed some work already and is currently working toward PhD in areas of computer science, electrical engineering, or machine learning
    • Hands-on experience implementing algorithms for perception problems such as segmentation, object detection, clustering and tracking
    • Hands-on experience applying machine learning to perception problems
    • Experience with at least one of the deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Caffe)
    • Good understanding of challenges in machine learning pipeline design such as data collection and processing, model design and evaluation
    • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
    • Proficiency with Python

    WHAT WE OFFER:

    • Opportunity to make an impact at a young, venture-backed company in an emerging market
    • Daily catered lunch and a stocked fridge (when working out of the Berkeley, CA office)
    • Mentorship from a diverse team with deep experience in neural networks, perception, and autonomous navigation.

Zendar is an equal opportunity employer
