Our client, a global law firm, with an office in Chicago is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant for their insurance defense practice group. This is a hybrid position with two (2) days working from home each week and a generous benefits package. Candidates should have 3+ years experience in insurance coverage/insurance defense. This firm's Chicago office is located near the Willis Tower.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing preliminary pleadings, i.e. notices of appearance/email designations, deposition notices, motions for extensions, discovery pleadings and assist attorneys with removal from state to federal court filings and service of discovery
- Intake of all incoming correspondence and court filings, including saving into file appropriately and calendaring all deadlines without supervision
- Schedule depositions, hearings, and conferences. Will be solely responsible for routine follow ups for each, and coordinating/finalizing with counsel and court reporters
- Ability to maintain calendar of hearings, appointments, mediations, depositions, meetings, and deadlines for several managing partners and associates
Required experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in insurance defense and coverage litigation
- Superior organizational skills, the ability to handle a fast-paced environment, multitask, pay strict attention to detail and take initiative to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner with minimal errors is required
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Effective communication skills and ability to proactively manage assignments
- Thorough working knowledge of and experience with e-filing portals for counties across the state of Florida and federal courts
- Knowledge of iManage and/or ChromeRiver highly preferred
