    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Zero Hash a FinCEN-registered Money Service Business as well as a regulated Money Transmitter that can operate in more than 46 states.  Zero Hash also holds a virtual currency license from NYDFS and is registered with FINTRAC in Canada.

    As the CCO of Americas, reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will be responsible for all compliance efforts in the US, Canada, and Mexico.

    MINDSET

    The successful candidate must be a self-motivated, highly driven, and curious executive who is passionate about the growing digital asset ecosystem and Zero Hash's efforts to facilitate crypto adoption world-wide.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Institute and maintain a world-class compliance program with a holistic “five pillars” approach that identifies and mitigates legal and regulatory risk
    • Drive compliance team growth and hiring initiatives
    • Draft, implement and amend appropriate policies, procedures, controls and monitoring to ensure company-wide compliance with applicable internal and legal standards
    • Collaborate with Legal colleagues to conduct analysis of laws, standards, and regulations that may apply to Zero Hash's products, including state licensing laws and regulations, OFAC regulations, AML/BSA Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements, CFPB consumer protection regulations, state money services business rules and regulations, (EFTA)/Regulation E and payment network operating rules
    • Partner with and provide compliance guidance to product and engineering teams as they design innovative products
    • Manage and maintain new and ongoing licensing compliance, including managing regulatory examinations, applying for new licenses, and responding to requests from regulators
    • Meet with federal and state regulators to advocate for Zero Hash's business and compliance position

    REQUIREMENTS

    • BA/BS
    • 10+ years of financial service experience
    • 7+ years' experience in financial services compliance in-house, at a regulator, or with a law firm
    • Experience building a financial service compliance team
    • In-depth understanding of compliance, operational risks and internal control frameworks
    • Ability to build out and improve compliance policies, procedures, processes, and operations
    • Strong communication, problem-solving, and process management
    • Result-oriented and able to drive and complete multiple efforts at once

    PREFERRED

    • JD or MBA
    • Experience at a high-growth startup
    • Crypto experience strongly preferred
