    POSITION PURPOSE:

    The purpose of this role is to ensure the right quantity of the right product is delivered profitably to customers on time at a level of quality and value that exceeds that of other competitors and suppliers of grocer produce.

    NATURE AND SCOPE:

    Zeste Farms™ is a start-up company and as such, this role has the full scope of establishing the weekly rhythm of the supply chain with direction and support from the CEO. This position must integrate the basics of material requirements planning, quick response, inventory planning, master planning, production operations, mass customization, logistics scheduling, data analytics, food safety aspects such as traceability, proper labeling, refrigeration, and cost management. Expertise in all areas is not expected in the candidate. Aptitude and passion in supply chain excellence, systems and processes that drive efficiency and reliability, and data analytics is expected. This role initially reports to the CEO.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: __

    PRIMARY:

    • Establish the master planning process that is driven by a combination of consumer and customer direct demand and forecasts
    • Design performance metrics on key business initiatives yield, fill rate, responsiveness, waste etc. that are benchmarked against competitors, drive accountability, are capable of being measured and are reported weekly.
    • Identify delivery requirements for all customers, setting expectations where all requirements cannot be met.
    • Establish policies and processes to drive efficiency with groups outside the supply chain organization
    • Develop and execute MRP based inventory management strategy for all raw material inputs to meet master planning objectives, all supplies, and all workforce consumables such as personal protective equipment.
    • Review and improve all employee production operations processes through a collaboration and approval process to achieve synchronization with weekly supply chain rhythm
    • Design, develop and execute as required product traceability identification process and systems integration
    • Collaborate closely with Master Grower to ensure continuous learning toward yield optimization with future use of data analytics, machine learning and potentially artificial intelligence.
    • Establish network of transportation providers with Grocers to ensure timely coordination of daily pickups
    • Ensure all finished goods have a disposition with customers, public markets, or food banks.

    SECONDARY:

    • Develop and implement strategies to improve and sustain supply chain planning and logistics capabilities to achieve lower total landed costs, shorter lead-times, and improved inventory availability.
    • Benchmark similar operations and determine best practices.
    • Initiate continuous improvement: Provide total landed cost solutions with any business proposals that impact the Zeste Farms Supply Chain and require investment. Analyze the risks, benefits, and opportunities of various solutions
    • Understand the needs of sales and customers and anticipate changes in requirements through constant interface with marketing, sales and operations. Develop contingency plans.
    • Create and manage forecasts and budgets as required, including cost of goods sold, resources and expenses.

    GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    · REQUIRED: An entrepreneurial minded individual with a BA/BS degree in Engineering, Business or other discipline with heavy concentration in Supply Chain Management, Production Systems, Data Analytics, Manufacturing related Industrial Engineering or equivalent. A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated management in supply chain and/or logistics operations is required. Must have familiarity and user experience with at least one ERP or supply chain management system used to run a company. Expert Microsoft Excel. APICs certification preferred. Strong analytical, problem resolution, project management, vendor management, judgment and decision-making skills are needed. Excellent communications, interpersonal and organizational skills in a team environment are required. NOTE: Zeste Farms is a start-up. Candidate must possess a “whatever it takes” attitude and perform a variety of tasks not listed here to meet company objectives.
