    HealthFitness has an exciting new opportunity for a MARKETING COORDINATOR within Harvard Recreation located on-campus in Cambridge, MA. In this position, you will be the lead professional staff member that manages the development and implementation of all outreach and promotional programs, events, campaigns, and strategies within the recreation program.  You will collaborate with Harvard Athletics, across multiple facilities, develop all marketing information and manage all email, social media, web site and graphics. You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining timelines, the annual marketing plan, and other projects as assigned.  You will work 40 hours per week, a schedule that consists of weekdays during business hours, but some weekends and evenings will be required. You will be focused on promoting the services and resources available to the Harvard community through the recreation department.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Marketing (40%):

    • Develop annual goals, objectives, action plans and engaging content that promote Harvard Recreation services and resources to its membership and relevant community.

    • Manage the Harvard Recreation website, Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms as necessary. This includes supporting fitness, membership, lifetime sports and student programming initiatives.

    • Responsible for all recreation graphic design projects. Create outreach and marketing materials (signage, posters, facility media streaming, website and social media graphics) to promote events, programming, and facility updates.

    • Work closely with Associate Director of Athletics for Recreation and meet weekly with Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing to cross-promote programming, brand consistency and collaborative efforts to build community at Harvard University.

    • Outreach and Events (40%):

    • Oversee the creation and distribution of the monthly recreation newsletter, including management of the database, content creation and managing a calendar of promotions.

    • Coordinate and manage all recreation outreach events on campus, including but not limited to: special events at the Malkin Athletic Center, Quadrangle Athletic Facility and Hemenway Gymnasium; student programming for Winter session and Grow. Play. Achieve. Program, monthly recreation events.

    • Collaborate with campus partners and participate in events/programs that promote Harvard Recreation.

    • Design, order and budget for Harvard Recreation giveaway items.

    • Recreation Management (20%):

    • Manage and adhere to annual budget for respective department.

    • Ensure all materials adhere to Harvard Athletics brand guidelines and standards.

    • Coordinate the development and manage the implementation of member retention and customer satisfaction programs with the Membership Coordinator.

    • Assist in general facility management, member service, and fitness.

    • Assist in establishing long and short-term goals of the facility.

    • Attend local, state, and national workshops and conferences; host and present at various workshops.

    • Perform other related duties as necessary and appropriate for the position as assigned by the General Manger.

     

     

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:

     

    REQUIRED:

    • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment.
    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, graphic or web design, public relations, sport management, recreation administration, or related field.
    • At least 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience.
    • Demonstrated experience producing outreach and marketing materials (graphic design, web management, and/or social media).
    • Demonstrated experience executing largescale events and projects.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • CPR/AED certification required or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs (including evenings and weekends).
    • Competency in the delivery of HealthFitness and site-specific programs and services.

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Knowledge of website editing, basic video production, and Adobe Spark/Adobe products.
    • Master’s degree in a related field.
    • Experience working in campus recreation, collegiate athletics, or recreation/fitness.
