    PATH is currently recruiting for a Business Development Officer to support PATH's business development efforts with multiple donors, including the United States government (USAID, CDC, NIH, etc.), other governments, foundations, and the private sector. This position will focus on developing new business intelligence, new business response strategy and proposal implementation, requiring both strategic and tactical levels of support. This position is pivotal in the development of sound, responsive and compelling bids. Partnering with technical and country program leaders and others across the organization, the successful candidate will be in the center of the work, able to affect the direction of key bids. They will work both internally across the organization as well as externally with donors and partners. Opportunities to lead both large and small teams will be abundant. Duties may require domestic and international travel approximating up to 25% time and a flexible work schedule to permit for either early morning or late evening teleconference calls or assignments.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Building close relationships with assigned technical and country programs and ensuring delivery of the full life cycle of business development services, from strategic guidance for positioning to proposal management.
    • Developing longer-range business plans with assigned programs.
    • Representing the program and PATH in business development efforts, including institutional partnering. Providing short- and long-term assistance in business intelligence and developing and implementing capture plans.
    • Analyzing proposal content and donor debriefings.
    • Providing analysis and recommendations for bid decisions.
    • Acquiring approval of needed resources and assurance of availability (proposal team, budget, personnel, facilities, etc.).
    • Engaging with upper management to resolve program issues (e.g., relocation of staff, hiring).
    • Maintaining proposal quality and ensuring total proposal compliance.
    • Cultivating new business discussions with donors so that PATH is better able to predict and inform resources across programs.

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of five years of relevant experience, with at least three years working directly in business development required. 
    • Experience in proposal development for a wide range of donors including US Government (e.g., USAID, CDC, NIH), as well as for European donors (e.g., FCDO UK), private foundations, and corporations.
    • Experience in global health strongly preferred.
    • French language proficiency required.
    • Demonstrated leadership and management skills across the business development continuum from trend analysis and strategy development through proposal development, production, compliance and delivery.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of donor rules, regulations, and processes, and demonstrated experience working in a team environment with program and technical staff, as well as external partners.
    • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills including good public speaking and presentation skills.
    • Ability to sustain interpersonal and professional relationships with internal colleagues and external partners and donors.
    • Ability to problem-solve difficult issues. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to multitask with ease, adapting to frequently changing priorities.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively present complex ideas to diverse audiences.
    • English language fluency required.
    • Experience with SharePoint and Salesforce preferred.
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
    • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

    • Four year college degree in business management, production operations management, agricultural science, food science or equivalent communication and analytical ability acquired through work experience.

    • Seven or more years supervising and managing departments and individuals involved in meat processing activities.

    • Demonstrated ability to achieve manufacturing objectives in the areas of volume, cost and quality working through others.

    • Working knowledge of good manufacturing practices, hazard analysis and critical control points, lean manufacturing and other food safety, quality and manufacturing principles.

    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with employees at all levels of the organization.

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities at one time using effective organizational skills and judgment in an environment of frequently changing circumstances.

    • Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of applications; specifically using Word to create and modify documents, Excel to record data and calculate results, and Outlook to communicate internally and externally.
