JOB SUMMARY:
An instructional assistant provides 1:1 educational and behavioral intervention services to children with an IEP (Individual Education Plan) for a disability. Instructional assistants are responsible for implementing behavioral programs as directed and supervised by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst utilizing behavior analytic principles. This support and assistance will occur in the student’s home or other education environment. The Instructional Assistant is responsible for implementing education goals and collecting data as outlined in the student's IEP. Each school year, Instructional Assistants will need to provide evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities related to their assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of postsecondary study
Possess an Associates degree or higher
Meet a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through a State or local assessment.
Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) preferred (or desire to work toward receiving RBT certification with guidance)
Two (2) years teaching, tutoring, or classroom experience, preferred.
Current & maintains professional liability insurance coverage
Current (last 6 months) Criminal Background Check , FBI Background Check, & ChildAbuse Check
Current (last 3 months) TB test results
Acceptance of philosophy and goals of the Agency
ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) experience preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implements educational/behavioral programming in a 1:1 setting.
Collects data on all programming and writes progress notes.
Communicates monthly, as needs arise with BCBA
Participates in in-service programs, trainings, and quarterly staff meetings.
Understands and adheres to established policies and procedures.
Provides data and feedback to BCBA for quarterly progress monitoring.
Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Observes confidentiality and safeguards all client related information.
Completes all progress notes and invoicing in a timely manner
Immediately reports to BCBA/ Supervisor any student incidents/variances or complaints.
Adheres to Agency standards and consistently interprets and accurately performs all assigned responsibilities.
Maintains acceptable attendance status, per Agency policy.
Appearance is always within Agency standards; is clean and well groomed.
Demonstrates sound judgment, critical thinking and decision making.
Maintains current CPR certification.
Attends supervision on a regular basis
Hourly Wage:
$21-28/hour depending on experience and education
