PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
The Company
An established and fully accredited community-based not-for-profit healthcare provider of serious illness services to include hospice and palliative care services, home-based primary care, grief counseling, and in-home care services for the elderly. Regional in scope and nationally recognized and respected for innovation and expertise in addressing the most complex health issues.
Scope of the Job
The President and Chief Executive Officer will report to the Volunteer Board of Directors and serve as a visionary and strategic leader, responsible for the organization's strategic direction, in alignment with the organization's mission and values. Based at corporate headquarters in Newton, North Carolina, you will be the senior member of the executive leadership team. You will set and implement a clear overall strategic direction for the business, resulting in successfully attaining all business goals and objectives.
You will be expected to:
• Develop a long-term strategic vision, mission, and operating plan. You will have full profit and loss responsibility for the business, ensuring top-line and bottom-line growth objectives are met or exceeded.
• Develop and manage an annual budget that reflects the strategic initiatives of the organization. Create fiscal accountability among senior leaders.
• Carry out the Board of Directors and its committee's directives, ensuring any governance and planning needs are considered. Seek approval of the Board in matters of significance.
• Implement all policies and procedures as established by the Board of Directors.
• Present to the Board of Directors activity reports, including financial information.
• Ensure that all patient care services are planned and implemented according to state and national standards and regulations and have the Board of Directors' approval.
• Implement a quality improvement mechanism to assess the overall program.
• Establish an organizational structure, organize daily administrative functions, and reevaluates the structure as necessary.
• Organize, direct, and supervise all operational management and administrative functions of the organization including, budgeting, accounting, data collection, record maintenance, employment practices, and personnel policies.
• Assure that staffing is appropriate to meet the needs of patients.
• Ensure that the highest quality services are uniformly available, consistent with sound professional judgment, and accurately described in public information.
• Interpret hospice programs and needs to the community.
• Assure that clinical services are provided under the supervision and direction of an appropriately qualified health professional in a manner consistent with ethical conduct.
• Oversee qualified and competent personnel and ensure adequate staff education and evaluation, including maintaining an ongoing plan for employee orientation, in-service training, and continuing education.
• Develop a learning plan and review it with your leaders.
• Participate in guidance and education programs as needed.
• Set clear and measurable goals and objectives for all functional leaders to achieve all short-term business metrics. Monitor results through effective performance evaluation, communication, and timely feedback.
• Provide guidance, feedback, and development opportunities to the organization's senior leaders. You will be a servant leader who empowers leaders to execute vital strategic initiatives that ultimately relate to the mission of serving the community, patients, and their families.
• Provide visionary leadership to the organization to provide premier hospice and palliative care services. You will motivate and promote a culture that is mission-driven and aligned with the company's values. You will openly display and reinforce the values of the organization.
• Promote greater public awareness and visibility of hospice and palliative care services, both locally and nationally. Serve as an advocate within the community to promote a greater understanding of hospice and palliative care services. Encourage engagement with the organization in the form of donor relationships, volunteerism, and primary fundraising events.
• Actively promote the fundraising efforts of the organization. Serve as the spokesperson with key philanthropic foundations and financial supporters.
• Consistently develop, plan and implement activities that address fundraising, grant, and charitable contribution needs.

• Engage with healthcare systems and providers, community leaders, insurers, policy and advocacy groups, and other professional organizations to build thriving partnerships.
• Anticipate future healthcare policy and trends to position the organization for growth and sustainability. Analyze the healthcare landscape and pursue new programs and services to meet hospice and palliative care services to patients' expanded needs.
• Assure that all reports, licenses, permits, and regulatory requirements necessary for operating are upheld and submitted correctly.
• Cultivate continuous quality improvement, process efficiencies, service excellence and ensure all services and activities comply with federal, state, and accreditation requirements.
• Demonstrate familiarity with company policies; understands and adheres to rules, regulations, and standards of regulatory bodies, QAPI program, and applicable accrediting agencies. • Complies in a timely manner with all mandatory in-service requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards and with all federal, state, and local regulations related to delivering health care services.
• Implement corrective action in response to reports and/or recommendations of the Committees and any authorized planning, regulatory, and inspection agencies.
• Engage regularly and effectively with the Board and its committees, conveying needs, strategic positioning, and accomplishments of the organization.
• Arrange, negotiate, and execute contracts and agreements for such services provided through contractual agreements.
• Develop, implement, and regularly evaluate the policies and procedures for the total program approved by the governing body.
Candidate Requirements
1. We seek a seasoned healthcare executive with a minimum of 10 years of progressive hospice-related leadership experience. Candidates should have a proven track record demonstrating operational effectiveness as a results-oriented healthcare professional, team builder, and leader. A Master's level education or higher is required.
2. We seek a mission-driven executive and leader with a demonstrated track record of success building a community-based not-for-profit healthcare-focused organization. The perfect candidate will be a well-balanced executive with compassion, culture and diversity sensitivity, community-focus, and a business-minded professional.

4. We seek a well-rounded executive comfortable at all levels within the organization. The incumbent should be comfortable as the spokesperson within the community. The incumbent will develop relationships with key philanthropic foundations, financial supporters, healthcare systems, providers, community leaders, payors, advocacy groups, and other professional organizations.
5. You must be a strong communicator and team player with outstanding interpersonal skills and a passion for hospice and palliative care services for the best fit. You must be capable of building and leading a world-class hospice and palliative care business.
6. You must be an accomplished leader with a passion for delivering high-quality hospice and palliative care services. You must possess uncompromising ethics and integrity that will reflect favorably on the organization and in the community.
Compensation
A compensation package will be designed to attract outstanding talent and will include a base salary, performance bonus, and an attractive benefits package.
