    JOB SUMMARY

    The NOC Specialist troubleshoots complex problems impacting the Ziply Network and the services we provide to our customers.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed below are a range of duties performed by the employee and not intended to reflect all duties performed.

    • Perform turn-up, troubleshooting and maintenance of routing protocols in the data network, as well as customer BGP peering sessions.
    • Serve as the primary escalation point for BGP and complex routing issues for all routers.
    • Perform troubleshooting of complex issues related to DSL, Metro-E and dedicated internet customers.
    • Work directly with dedicated internet customers to troubleshooting hardware, configuration, BGP, routing issues and speed complaints.
    • Serve as the primary contact for customer upgrades from T1 or ATM hand-off to Metro-E. Ensure proper routing of IP blocks for customers moving from T1 to Metro-E and also moving IP blocks from one router to the new one.
    • Perform advanced troubleshooting on complex DSL issues that negatively impact our customers.
    • Perform Cisco ACS/TACACS server administration
    • Serve as Tier II support for transport of Video network including ONT, OLT, and BRAS.
    • Perform Cisco and Juniper router hardware and software troubleshooting.
    • Open Technical Assistance Case (TAC) cases with Cisco/Juniper to troubleshoot router hardware/software issues.
    • Perform emergency maintenances, grooming to relieve network congestion, replacement of hardware and configuration changes to maintain a stable network for our customers.
    • Serve as the Tier I NOC’s escalation for any IP problems in the network that negatively impact customers. These issues can range from BGP routing problems to BOGON issues to IP blocks not being subnetted properly or improperly configured on a router.
    • Responsible for the OSPF routing protocol which is used for routing loopback IP’s between iBGP peering routers.
    • Assist with preparing for IPv6 migration and implementation.
    • Responsible for DSL BRAS configuration, troubleshooting and network implementation.
    • Participate in 24/7/365 on-call rotation) coverage for network critical issues such as complete router failure, router troubleshooting, switch problems, and dedicated/managed routed customers.
    • Perform other duties as required.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • 5 years of experience providing end-to-end telecommunications support
    • Extensive background in IP subnetting, routing, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and troubleshooting. Experience performing Cisco route-map manipulation and Juniper policy mapping to manipulate BGP path selection.
    • Experience with MPLS management which used for VoIP and VPN customers and our internal private management network in addition to tunneling ATM traffic.
    • Strong understanding of QoS marking and queuing at layer 2, layer 3, and MPLS layer with multiple vendor equipment.
    • Extensive Cisco and Juniper knowledge in routers and switches.

    • Ability to work flexible hours and on call as needed.
    • Excellent analytical skills.
    • Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment and reasoning skills to a variety of situations, multi-task and collaborate effectively with other personnel to meet deadlines.
    • Capable of identifying potential compliance problem areas early on, assessing alternate courses of corrective action and recommending satisfactory solutions.
    • Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills, and familiarity with compliance concepts. Able to work within critical deadlines.
