    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Defines and monitors aerospace software mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of programs. Performs or assures of software and firmware quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, software subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements. Assesses program performance and risks, and determines resources to ensure mission assurance.
    • Mission Assurance is a full life-cycle engineering process to identify and mitigate design, production, test, and field support deficiencies threatening mission success. Mission Assurance includes the disciplined application of system engineering, risk management, quality, and management principles to achieve success of a design, development, testing, deployment, and operations process.
    • Software Mission Assurance working on spacecraft programs is highly interactive with multiple subsystems, and knowledgeable of the overall spacecraft software development life-cycle process related to software planning, design, implementation, verification, validation, acceptance and delivery. Software Mission Assurance consists of a means of monitoring the software engineering processes and methods used to ensure quality. The methods by which this is accomplished are many and will varied; and will include ensuring conformance to one or more standards, such as ISO, CMMI, NASA-STDs, IEEEs, etc.
    • The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong understanding of the waterfall, spiral and agile software development life cycle models, software and firmware industry process, product compliance audits and nonconformance system, and a detail oriented approach to identify and capture noncompliance and risks throughout the software's development life cycle and maintenance. Excellent people and technical skills are required to coordinate with various subsystems, conduct compliance analysis and audits, implement corrective actions, and interact with management, customers and subcontractors.
    • Requirement:
    • The Mission Assurance Engineer will ensure compliance with all Software Mission Assurance quality compliance related contractual requirements, and sector/division policies and procedures, while contributing to the programs effective process implementation.
    • This posting is for aerospace software mission assurance supporting ground software product development and delivery to various spacecraft programs and customers.

       

    TASKS WILL INCLUDE:

    • Independently assessing program and supplier product development, compliance, risk and software product safety; conducting process and product audits; and performing supplier assurance. Ensuring the quality of software and firmware engineering and test verification/validation activities, participating in all related software development life cycle, program major milestones reviews, product peer review, documentation and product approval, build releases, software testing, verification, and validation. Derive software mission assurance requirements from standards, contract requirements, statement of work, processes, and program plans. Develop Software Mission Assurance Plan and implement tasks per the plan.
    • Overseeing ground software agile life cycle development, with products delivered to a wide variety of Class A to Class D customers
    • Participation in sprint planning, execution, reviews, releases and backlog refinement ensuring requirements are identified, acceptance criteria for stories and tasks is appropriate and is tested as planned
    • Member of the Engineering Review Board (ERB) team ensuring implementation of design changes maintain the safety and quality of the affected products
    • Collaborating with program office, mission managers, and customer representatives to ensure gives and gets are well understood, planned and commitments are agreed on
    • Ensure build and verification testing of new features being added every sprint, as well as full regression testing for all previously implemented functionality in every sprint is performed per plans
    • Member of Software Configuration Control Boards (SCCB) product line, with the responsibility of assuring approved changes are fixed, tested and verify at the product line level, while assuring correct decomposition to lower level SCCB is assigned, using related software problem tracking tools (e.g. TRAC, Razor, Jira, etc.)
    • Witness software verification testing, software patches and software qualification to ensure compliance to requirements and procedures
    • Participate in product peer review and approved product for configuration control and release before products are made available for internal or external customers
    • Assist in collecting status reports and metrics. Provide weekly and monthly status to the management
    • Perform process and product audits ensuring compliance to established standards
    • Identify process and product nonconformances, determine root cause and support implement corrective and preventive action
    • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics to management and non-technical audiences
