    Job Description

    The HR Shared Services Intern supports the HR Shared Services team.  This function works closely with the field HR teams, employees and management. This position also supports the HR department in the administration of assigned transactional work.

    This position will work on-site in our Milwaukee, WI headquarters office.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • In partnership with the Shared Services team, completes assignments in areas such as: Onboarding, Off-boarding, Benefits, HR system data entry, and Reporting.
    • Handles all aspects of pre-employment onboarding, including background check and drug screening process; I9 completion; new hire paperwork; and communications with candidate, management and HR partner.
    • Assists with coordinating and conducting new employee orientation in-person or via Microsoft Teams.
    • Professionally and accurately responds to written and oral inquiries from employees, managers, and HR partners regarding HR questions, HR policies or Benefits. This will include telephone, chat, or e-mail.
    • In partnership with the HR Shared Services Representative, supports employee off-boarding by completing exit documents and submitting IT termination notices.
    • Assist with data entry into HR system for employee-related changes and terminations.
    • Interfaces with Human Resource Partners, HRIS, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, IT, and variously levels of Management to assist in the administration and support of employee issues and problems.
    • Obtains and provides requested information or takes appropriate action to resolve, refer, or escalate issues in accordance with company and HR policies and procedures.
    • Quickly and accurately resolves cases in professional, sensitive, customer-focused manner.
    • Escalates complex cases to the HR Shared Services Manager or field HR resources.
    • Updates team SOPs and works to identify process improvement opportunities.
    • Maintains high degree of confidentiality.
    • Performs other duties as requested
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Currently enrolled in an accredited University, working towards a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field
    • Knowledge of various areas of human resources including benefits, employment, pay-related practices/process, compensation and company policies and procedures
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
    • Demonstrate excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality is required
    • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and individuals
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain data quality
    • Ability to work 10-20 hours per week during the Fall/Spring Semester
