JOB TITLE: Junior Bioinformatics Associate

SUMMARY/CONTRIBUTION OF POSITION: The Bioinformatics Associate supports Zymo Research Services to run data-analysis pipelines for genome-wide DNA methylation, RNA-seq, and other Next-Generation Sequencing analysis methods. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Routinely run the pipelines to process data of customer samples and generate project reports.
2. Coordinate with R&D personnel in the analysis and processing of Next-Generation Sequencing data
3. Maintain technical materials, protocols, and application notes on data analysis. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: · Holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline. Experience may substitute for education. · Familiar with Linux/Unix operating systems and running/scripting applications from the command line. · Ability to simultaneously manage and execute multiple projects. · Demonstrable best-practices for code documentation and revision control. REQUIRED SKILLS: Ability to script the execution of applications in a Linux command-line environment with proper error-handling.

Experience with professional documentation and record-keeping practices.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

· Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Perl, R)

· Familiarity with Amazon Web Services EC2 and S3.

· Biological research experience.

· Familiarity with popular bioinformatics command-line tools.

· Experience with execution of bioinformatics pipelines.
