PURCHASING ASSOCIATE/RECEPTIONIST

OVERALL GOAL FOR THIS POSITION

To ensure an optimal level of stock material (reagents, supplies, equipment, etc.) is maintained for essential operating efficiency. The position is within a fast-paced company and provides the opportunity to work in a team environment. The successful candidate must be able to multi-task, have strong computer knowledge, customer service experience, and good communications skills.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Team player with a positive attitude who is self-motivated and takes initiative

2. Highly organized and detail oriented

3. Good written and verbal communication skills

4. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel (ideally using pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs etc….)

5. Bachelor’s degree preferred

6. General operations experience preferred (familiarity with purchasing/buying process)

7. Experience purchasing lab-related items or general familiarity with research lab operations is preferred

8. Able to lift or carry up to 25 lbs with assistance of equipment such as dollies or hand trucks 9. Ability to stand on your feet for up to 2 hours at a time

9. Strong oral and written communication skills.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE: __

1. Meet, greet and make all visitors feel welcome; schedule appointments.

2. Maintain presentable appearance of reception area and other areas

3. Perform inventory analysis on all assigned stock materials and determine appropriate action given current or anticipated needs according to historical trends and future forecasts.

4. Help to categorize suppliers based on specific criteria such as on-time delivery, responsiveness, relative value, number of sku’s purchased etc.…

5. Establish and maintain pertinent vendor relationships through the use of regularly scheduled phone calls.

6. Work closely with R&D / operations teams to obtain detailed forecasts for all assigned materials, which can be used to execute purchase orders with delivery timelines.

7. Help to record and maintain detailed records containing product specification necessary for purchasing.

8. Investigate and help to establish backup suppliers for all critical items.

9. Perform bi-monthly stock counts of all assigned material to ensure inventory is up-to-date and accurate.

10. Put away samples and essential materials according to defined standard operating procedures (SOPs).

11. Coordinate shipping of goods and samples to end-users.
