SUMMARY Responsible for providing business development and growth by building relationships with wholesale customers and applying decision-making to underwrite business that contributes to building an individual DIC portfolio. Directly responsible for new business production, renewal retention and the overall profitability of assigned book of business. Jointly responsible for SIU portfolio results – production, renewal retention, risk selection and broker relationships in conjunction with other SIU colleagues. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Reviews, evaluates and rates business by applying underwriting judgment and adhering to company policy and state regulations within established authority; • Underwrites insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and the assigned personal authority to meet business objectives including negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business; • Manages production, use of capacity and expenses to goal; • Documents policies, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines, and ensuring contribution to the business plan and objectives;  • Assists with the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectives;  • Performs proper and prompt data entry in underwriting system, as required, in relation to underwriting and aggregate exposures;  • Complies with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met;  • Establishes and maintains relationships with wholesale customers to understand their needs and sell products that respond to their needs;  • Fosters strong partnerships with wholesale customers by informing on new products and programs, communicating opportunities for continuous improvement and clarifying and explaining underwriting decisions to ensure understanding of SIU goals and objectives; • Contributes to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others to reward performance and value “can do” people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and fun; • Complies with agency management system data standards and data integrity (enters and maintains complete and accurate information); • Infrequent travel (approx. 10% a year); • Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum 5 years related work experience Currently active in the E&S Property segment of the Insurance Industry Strong wholesale broker relationships  Valid insurance license required SKILLS Excellent verbal and written communication skills  Excellent customer service skills Excellent negotiation and presentation skills Strong math skills and strong attention to detail Self-motivated and ability to multi-task while managing priorities Proficient in Microsoft Office products Proficient in use of CAT modelling resources to analyze individual accounts and portfolio level exposures Demonstrated ability to handle a large book of business and the high volumes of business flow that are typical for a market leading company such as SIU.
