SUMMARY Responsible for the management and administration of benefits comprehensive billing, enrollment processing and web transitions for various clients and benefit plans. Independently responsible for servicing and retention of assigned customers/policies.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manages the administration and billing functions for various client accounts to ensure the timely and effective processing of all relevant benefits administrative needs;
    • Works with clients or prospective clients to identify the group’s specific characteristics including/ benefit needs, design, benchmarking/trend analysis, group demographics and/or employee census;
    • Oversees the processing of enrollments, status changes, evidence of insurability documents and terminations of plan participants;
    • Oversees the daily processing of web, paper and phone eligibility transactions;
    • Prepares and audits monthly plan billings which include calculation, input, posting and invoicing;
    • Communicates with and establishes a solid relationship with clients, prospective clients and carriers, providing excellent customer service to clients, employers, brokers, service teams and vendors;
    • Works closely with vendor contacts to investigate discrepancies and provides reports and notifications in non-routine instances;
    • Acts as escalation point for complex client issues with benefits – specifically billing and claim issues;
    • Investigates and resolves technical system related issues;
    • Coordinates and assists in the maintenance of web-based clients in the development and maintenance of client quick sheets user guides and training materials;
    • Collaborates with service teams and clients in group implementation, data gathering and the renewal process;
    • Supports marketing of benefits administration services
    • Works with client to test self-service prior to enrollment beginning
    • Assists with post-open enrollment clean up (complete carrier census template; ensure that post OE EDI files are sent and received by carrier)
    • Engages in optimal and appropriate usage of applicable agency management systems; and
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE College Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 5 – 10 years related work experience, preferably within worksite marketed voluntary benefits Valid insurance license Must continue to meet Continuing Education requirements for license renewal Encouraged to complete Career Path requirements as communicated by supervisor SKILLS Ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent customer service skills, including telephone and listening skills Ability to prioritize work for multiple projects and deadlines Good interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Skilled in the calculation of figures and the application of concepts such as percentages, ratios and proportions in practical situations Working knowledge of personal computing techniques and computer systems Good problem solving and time management skills Strong organizational skills and ability to track multiple outstanding items across clients, manage follow-up, and follow issues to resolution
