    About Avegant:

Avegant is a well-funded, venture-backed technology company developing the next-generation of light field displays.  We are pioneering innovative hardware and software solutions that will forever change how we learn, play, work and interact with each other. We’ve won multiple awards, our team is best in class, and we’re just getting started.

Avegant is about the journey of innovation, and we want to take you with us. If you think you have what it takes to be part of our incredible team, then come join us and be part of a company that is making mixed reality possible.

    Overview:

Avegant is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Product Development that is not only great at what they do, but who will be an integral part of our team.  The position will contribute to our cutting-edge near-eye display technology, and will be filled by a highly-motivated individual with at least 5-years experience in a product development environment.  Successful candidates will have previous experience in the consumer electronics industry, as well as a strong analytical background.  This position will work closely with a high-powered Engineering and Industrial Design team, and be responsible for the detailed design and engineering behind our highly-cosmetic headset components. Previous experience developing injection molded components and assembly design is required to be considered for this opportunity.  This position will be located onsite in our HQ office in Belmont, CA.  This is not a remote work opportunity.

Working together and supporting each other is critical to our success.  We function well as a team, and are better together because we actually enjoy each other’s company!  Our team-building happens both organically and with intention—through daily lunch together in the office, shooting hoops after lunch, handling meetings over nature walks, and team events outside of the office.  We’re seeking candidates that will continue to bring that same enthusiasm to the team.

    Responsibilities:

    • 3D design and 2D drafting of injection molded, machined, stamped, and wire-form components
    • Design and development of mechanisms and flexible assemblies
    • Development of structural architecture of headsets based on ergonomic requirements
    • Finite element analyses of components and assemblies
    • Tolerance analysis of complex assemblies of injection molded parts
    • Author clear documentation on mechanical inspection and performance requirements
    • Specify appropriate materials for components to meet design requirements for both production and prototype fabrication
    • Interface with overseas manufacturing partners on design manufacturability and resolution of mechanical issues
    • Up to 25% international travel to overseas manufacturing facilities may be required

    Qualifications:

    • BS or MS in mechanical engineering or related field
    • The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of relevant experience with expertise in the design of piece parts and assemblies for high-volume consumer electronics or relevant products
    • 3+ years hands on 2D drafting and 3D modeling experience in SolidWorks software
    • 2+ years experience with mechanical FEA and simulation
    • Understanding of GD&T fundamentals and familiarity of inspection techniques
    • Excellent documentation skills, including manufacturing and inspection drawings
    • Experience in design for injection molding of cosmetic parts
    • Working experience with overseas manufacturing partners
