    JOB PURPOSE 

    The Infotainment Systems Engineer for Canoo's Digital Product / Connected Vehicle, will provide the definition behind the Canoo experience. You will work with the engineering and product teams to create the system and component specifications to orchestrate the product experience.  You will also work with the development and QA teams to ensure the final software meets the expectations of the program. Ideal candidates will have working knowledge of both system definition strategies and automotive infotainment technologies, and will be able to hit the ground running.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Develop and define use cases for the Digital Product / Connected Vehicle 
    • Write and manage system and component software requirements based on the product use cases 
    • Ensure alignment of your products/features with key stakeholders e.g. software developers, ECU engineers, UXUI designers, etc
    • Communicate regular status on progress & needs

     

    SUPPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Work with the QA team to develop verification and validation plans 
    • Support integration of new features into existing architecture
    • Support bringup of vehicle functionality during prototype build runs
    • Create and maintain system artifacts that clearly convey key information
    • Work alongside engineering teams to deliver your products/features on time and with quality

    CORE COMPETENCIES

    • Experience defining a system from the ground up; ability to identify key components and performance criteria
    • Strong understanding of automotive technology and practices – CAN, LIN, Ethernet, FMVSS, etc.
    • Strong understanding of wireless technologies – Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Cellular
    • Excellent communication skills – e.g. technical concepts to a non-technical audience

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    • 3+ years systems engineering experience 
    • Working experience with requirement management software e.g. Polarion, Jama, DOORS
    • Experience working under Agile Management principles e.g. sprints, scrums, story points, etc.
    • Solid understanding of electronics, specifically ECUs, sensors, actuators, and other common automotive devices
    • Solid debugging and systems analysis skills to be able to identify and quickly resolve/mitigate issues 
    • Experience with connected vehicles or IoT devices. 
    • Experience with mobile app development – Android, iOS 
    • Experience working on TCP/IP networking, communication protocols and distributed systems 
    • Ability to work through technical tradeoffs to deliver the desired experience
    • History of successfully bringing new technologies/products to market
