JOB PURPOSE

You will be a key player in delivering commodities that meets world class standards in terms of craftsmanship, form & function vs cost. Exterior System components and subsystems include, but are not limited to: Front & Rear Fascia Systems, Front End Modules, Fender Panels, Door Panels, Rocker and Wheel Arches, Liftgate Trims, Exterior Moldings, Underbody Aero Shields, Side View Mirror, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Concept Engineering & feasibility of exterior commodities that requires mechanisms – Side View Mirrors, Chargeport Door
• Layout and Packaging within vehicle architecture
• Participate in the development process with Design Studio and cross functional teams
• Component and system level GD&T
• Develop, manage and maintain technical documentation like DVP and DFMEA, Component and System Technical Specifications
• Maintain and track open items from concept to production in the most effective way
• Develop the commodities to meet all regulatory requirements and find the right balance between weight, cost and performance targets to meet vehicle requirements
• Develop Electrical Architecture for the system that could communicate with Vehicle Electrical Architecture
• Design and engineer commodity with an approach of build to print
• Complete and release component & sub system design, utilizing a mix of in-house design and supplier engineering where required

EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 7+ years of experience
• Experience designing parts using injection molding, thermoforming or compression molding techniques utilizing a variety of material
• Automotive engineering experience of working on Exterior components, using CATIA V5 / V6
• Expertise with the latest manufacturing technologies and execution to achieve systems requirements and world-class craftsmanship/performance targets
• Strong working knowledge of design for manufacturing, including knowledge of GD&T
• Experience of developing and managing DFMEAs, DVP&R's and other technical documents
• Experience of working on electrical architecture of system to communicate with vehicle electrical architecture
• Experience of working from concept to launch on at least two automotive programs
