Job Description
The Digital Content Specialist manages the written and visual content of our Residential marketing websites and digital marketing programs. Responsible for coordinating, creating and/or acquiring, and publishing content for websites, and other digital marketing programs such as search engine marketing (SEO/SEM), display advertising, partnerships and promotions. Collaborates with digital marketing peers, product and brand marketing, sales, channel marketing and IT, as well as external agencies and vendors.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains digital marketing content and assets, including copy, imagery and video for Residential websites and digital marketing programs
- Daily content authoring duties: updates and maintains website content utilizing Adobe Experience Manager; manages workflows; approves content for publishing in conjunction with site owner
- Works closely with content creators and Social Media peers to establish digital content strategy, including editorial calendars; Identifies current and future content needs and priorities; develops annual content plan in association with Digital Marketing and business peers and leadership
- Manages and coordinates the digital content development process from creation through review and approval
- Creates and manages digital launch plans for Tier 2 product launches working collaboratively with Digital Marketing peers, Channel, Brand and Product teams
- Executes on-site Search Engine Optimization activities
- Manages the development and implementation of Web content policy, governance, procedures and standards
- Ensures online content is strategically sound, brand-appropriate, search engine optimized and aligned with the company's overall creative approach; ensures content meets established guidelines.
- Analyzes and works from a creative brief, marketing brief, or business requirements.
- Participates in evaluating web sites for strategy, readability, usability, interactivity and credibility.
- Works with IT counterparts for platform development, enhancements, and bug fixes.
- Develops and coordinates training programs and documentation for content contributors
- Collaborates with Legal to gain approvals, maintain privacy and legal notices for the websites
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 2-3 years Digital marketing experience highly preferred
- Excellent writing, grammatical and content visualization skills; experience in Content Marketing and digital content management highly desired
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and analysis skills
- Must be able to work independently as well as on teams
- Ability to multi-task and work independently to self-prioritize projects and workloads
- Ability to learn and work with multiple applications and technologies
- Ability to develop and implement Best Practices and Standards
- Experience managing small-scale projects, estimating resource needs, timeframes and planning
- Flexible and creative problem solver
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access and Power Point
- Trained in Adobe AEM content management environment (if not already familiar, training will be provided)
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS and other web technologies helpful but not required
- General marketing experience helpful
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Authoring for Schlage.com
· SEO management
· New product data management
SKILLS:
· MUST HAVE: Web authoring experience with a CMS required
· MUST HAVE: Basic to moderate knowledge and understanding of SEO required
· NICE TO HAVE: Web analytics would be a nice to have
· NICE TO HAVE: Basic HTML experience is required
PROGRAMS/SYSTEMS EXPERIENCE:
- AEM and other Adobe products experience is a plus
- Experience in a Search Insights tool would be preferred (such as Conductor, Google Search Console, SEM Rush, Moz, etc.)
- Some experience with a PIM should be required
- Basic Photoshop skills is required
- Good cross-functional experience working with IT teams
