About the Role:
Join the team at Pernas Plant & Flower Shop Inc in Princeton, NJ, where creativity blooms every day! We're looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Flower Shop Assistant to help us craft beautiful arrangements and deliver exceptional service to our valued customers.This is a permanent position, not a summer job. Candidate must love flowers, plants, nature, being outdoors and a love of our 4 cats. A clean, valid New Jersey drivers license is a must.Learn the floral industry from the ground up, opportunity for growth.
Responsibilities:
Assist with designing and assembling floral arrangements, bouquets, and centerpieces
Greet and assist customers in selecting flowers, plants, and gifts for any occasion
Process customer orders in-store, by phone, and online with accuracy and care
Maintain the freshness and quality of flowers and plants through proper care and watering
Keep the shop clean, organized, and visually appealing at all times
Receive and process floral deliveries, including unpacking and conditioning fresh flowers
Support daily shop operations including opening, closing, and inventory restocking
Requirements:
Prior experience in a floral, retail, or customer service environment preferred
Genuine passion for flowers, plants, and floral design
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly, customer-first attitude
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (up to 30 lbs)
Reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends and holidays as needed
Basic math skills for handling transactions and processing payments
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, especially during peak seasons
