JOB TITLE: ACCOUNTING MANAGER

SUMMARY: Manages accounting and administration team, ensures timeliness of international client financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, enforces policy and procedures affecting financial reporting, collaborates with department managers and executive team, and builds relationships across gatc and client organizations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Trains, motivates, and directs team performing all accounting functions.
· Oversees accounts payable functions including use of third-party automation and integration systems, compliance with client policies such as expense reporting, capitalization, COGS vs. Operating costs, and intercompany transactions between parent and subsidiary including purchase order procedures.
· Monitors accounts receivables to ensure credit risk is mitigated.
· Ensures compliance with multi-state sales and use tax regulations including setup, tracking, and reporting including third-party integration.
· Partners with other departments to ensure accuracy in receiving of inventory, inventory adjustments and intercompany accounts.
· Oversees commission reporting and calculations for applicable clients.
· Reviews and prepares month end close activities such as journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, trend analysis, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reporting for each international client.
· Experience handling financials for multiple entities.
· Ensures all financial reports are prepared in accordance with US GAAP and delivered to international parent company clients on time.
· Reviews, maintains, and implements accounting policies and procedures, and third-party systems.
· Ensures proper use of Sage100 ERP, QuickBooks, Sage50 (Peachtree) and third-party softwares, including but not limited to merchant services, AP automation, expense reporting, and banking solutions.
· Coordinates annual independent audits and preparation of annual tax documents.
· Point of contact for new bank account setup, new employee credit cards, domestic ACH, international wires, user account access, and various other activities with multiple domestic and international banking institutions.
· Spearhead new client accounting and administrative onboarding within standard process and procedures; recognizing business implications of decisions made during the process.
· Assists with special projects and perform other duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Directly supervises 4 or more employees.
· Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent.
· Six or more years technical accounting experience.
· Two or more years motivating and holding others accountable.
· Working knowledge of US GAAP, financial statement preparation and interpretation, and trend analysis.
· Experience with multi-state sales and use tax reporting and regulations.
-German speaking preferred
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and advanced Excel.
· Working knowledge of ERP systems (Sage100), small business accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage50/Peachtree), online banking and treasury portals, third-party integrations (AvaTax, Beanworks, Expensify, Paya), and online merchant services (Amazon Pay, PayPal).
· Effectively communicate with all levels within gatc and client organizations.
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; ability to manage priorities and delegate; manage workload of subordinates.
· Flexible, coachable, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm; exude transparency, trust, and teamwork.
· Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate subordinates.
· Competence in duties and tasks of supervised employees.
