The Department of Nursing (DON) was established at Salve Regina University in September 1948. By September 1978, approximately 100 students were choosing nursing as their major. We now have approximately 500 students in four tracks of the nursing major, the pre-licensure track for those who wish to become registered nurses, a degree completion track for registered nurses who wish to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master's in Nursing to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice. The number of nursing faculty has grown with full-time and adjunct faculty who each have specific practice expertise, and two staff who enable the educational process to run more smoothly for both students and faculty.
