    ABOUT IEDUCATE

    Our mission: To educate today's children while elevating tomorrow's teachers.

    iEducate employs college and high school students as tutors to work as co-teachers alongside elementary teachers in order to enhance the learning of underserved students. The tutor provides both whole-class support as well as targeted group instruction to students in small groups. Our vision is to develop a cost-effective & sustainable co-teaching model for school districts to engage youth from the surrounding community as tutors in order to accelerate the learning of underserved students while also strengthening our future teacher workforce.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Houston, Texas-based position. Part-time work between 2/27/23 - 5/19/23. Receive $14-15/hour for all events & training in addition to base stipend of $600 contingent upon completion of asynchronous duties, with the opportunity to earn up to $2,000 for exceeding outlined target goals. In-person work required for all events & remote work required for asynchronous tasks.

    Weekly required hours for events & training will range depending on iEducate Ambassador availability & organizational need to attend/host recruiting events. To qualify for the position, you must:

    • Be a current or former iEducate tutor (preferably having worked for iEducate for at least 1 semester)
    • Have access to transportation & the ability to commute to different locations around Houston
    • Preferred but not required - Be available to work as an Ambassador at least 5 consecutive hours per week between the hours of 9AM and 4PM Mon-Fri

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Drive applicants to the iEducate program through performance of asynchronous recruiting duties

    • Promote iEducate on your personal social media accounts and platforms, including sharing/re-posting iEducate's posts, posting iEducate content to your story and/or your page, and participating in periodic social media campaigns 
    • Reach out to teachers, professors, and student organizations to coordinate email blasts to students, posts in student portals, and to schedule/deliver information sessions to students
    • Participate in iEducate's Ambassador Referral Program, consistently driving applicants to iEducate as “referrals”

    If your tutoring schedule permits, attend recruiting events on college, university, and high school campuses

    • Attend career fairs, mixers, socials, and various meetings held by student organizations and career services to spread the word about iEducate
    • Table at community events and/or other areas of interest that we anticipate high foot traffic from prospective student tutors
    • Drive to your assigned location, and set up a table with fliers & other materials 
    • Approach and engage college & high school students, answer their questions, distribute fliers, and encourage prospects to apply to become tutors 
    • Track potential recruits at all events you attend by ensuring prospects submit their information in iEducate's Interest Form

    Share about your experience in the iEducate program

    • Participate in information sessions with prospective recruits
    • Serve as a tutor panelist for iEducate events & speaking engagements
    • Participate in coaching sessions where you learn how to represent iEducate and practice your “elevator pitch”

    Other duties as assigned

    • Support recruiting team in coordinating, promoting, and delivering various recruiting events & initiatives
    • Support recruiting team in expanding iEducate's network/reach by accumulating new contacts and exposing program to new prospects
    • In key seasons as needed, support iEducate in interviewing and selecting tutor candidates

    WORK DEMANDS

    • Ability to travel to iEducate's office and to colleges, universities, high schools, and other partner recruiting locations across Houston
    • Occasional weekends and evening work required
    • A valid driver's license and valid automobile liability insurance
    • Able to lift 20 lbs
