We're bringing the repair world into the 21st century, one device at a time.
At iFixit, our mission is to empower and enable repair for everyone from the individual to global, Fortune 500 companies. A big part of our work includes collaborating with manufacturers to assess, inform, and educate them on the repairability of their products. This process involves disassembling and scoring devices, followed by crafting reports and having conversations with the key players of the OEMs. The role is technical, with a mix of head-down time working through devices and time cofunctioning and communicating findings.
The information and assessments we provide are dynamic and serve a wide audience—from sustainability officers to product designers to boots-on-the-ground repair techs. Our deliverables incorporate aspects of repair legislation, product design, and repair logistics. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker who understands what information is relevant to each party and is committed to communicating that information in a clear, engaging way.
The primary work of this role is on our Solutions Team—a small, internal department that works with OEMs to help them progress towards more repairable products through partnerships that include everything from product design advice to repair legislation interpretation to parts distribution via iFixit's online platform. However, this role also supports our Content Team, often collaborating or supporting content projects, such as teardowns, blog posts, videos, and social posts.
