    Job Description

    SUMMARY: 

    We’re seeking a passionate Medical Assistant to join our Unified Care team with both technical and clinical roles to develop an innovative, team-based chronic disease online management program. You will utilize the iHealth devices and Unified Care platform to help manage diabetic patients on site with other clinical team members.

    Under general supervision in a fast-paced Primary Care clinic setting, the Certified or Registered Medical Assistant will assist with direct patient care as dictated by established protocol.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; checks in patients, assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations.
    • Maintains accurate documentation in electronic health record.
    • Performs routine specialized procedures, such as setting up the iHealth products for the patients under established protocols.
    • Obtains pertinent labs and other tests as needed by the provider.
    • Manages clinic inventories and medical supplies.
    • Educates and advises patients on specific medical issues within established parameters to include obtaining prescription information.
    • Directs patient flow in accordance with provider schedules/patient appointments.
    • Maintains assigned examination rooms.
    • Coordinates routine office activities and administrative functions to support clinic activities.
    • Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.

    MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

    • High School diploma or GED required
    • Must be a current Registered or Certified Medical Assistant who is comfortable with working with Diabetes patients

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: 

    • Excellent communication and patient care
    • Ability to collect standard vital signs
    • Experience working with Diabetes patients in a clinic setting
    • Knowledge of patient evaluation, care charts, and histories
    • Ability to perform standard clinical procedures according to established protocols t
    • Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment
    • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
    • Must have basic keyboarding and windows computer skills
    • Must be a team player
    • Bilingual a plus especially Cantonese, Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese or Filipino
