    Job Description

    BRIEF STATEMENT OF THE PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

    The Tax operations Specialist supports the HCM Tax Department in an effort to achieve organizational goals. This person works closely with the stakeholders to support the payroll service client base.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION ARE:

    • Import client tax liability from payroll platforms

    • File and pay client payroll taxes timely and accurately

    • Prepare and file quarter and annual tax returns

    • Setup and balance all "full service" tax clients

    • Maintain client ID numbers, rates and deposit frequencies

    • Prepare and file amended tax returns

    • Run payroll tax reports and verify information reported is accurate for governmental agencies including all levels of Federal, state & local taxing jurisdictions

    • Identify and solve root causes of discrepancies in daily, weekly, semi-weekly, semi-monthly, annual tax payments, and recommend process improvements when warranted.

    • Coordinate printing/electronic filing of returns on behalf of clients

    • Actively involved with testing software updates

    • Other projects as assigned by the VP of Payroll Tax.

    • SKILLS:

      • Must be extremely organized, have attention to detail, and meet critical deadlines
      • Analytical with strong problem-solving abilities and creative resolution skills
      • Strong interpersonal communication skills (both written and verbal) to interface effectively with individuals at various levels
      • Ability to work well under pressure while consistently meeting time sensitive deadlines
      • Self-motivated, with the ability to work on multiple projects in a fast paced environment
      • Strong Microsoft Office program experience, including Excel and Word

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

      • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business, or similar field of study preferred
      • 3-5 years payroll tax experience
      • Ability to handle multiple priorities at once
      • Exhibit excellent customer service skills
      • Display above average computer and analytical skills
      • Proficient in Microsoft office
      • Maintain good communication skills
