POSITION: BUSINESS ANALYST INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY III
LOCATION: TORRANCE, CA
DURATION: 12+ MONTHS CONTRACT
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Gathers, refines and validates complex business requirements, interdependencies, potential risks and issues
- Analyzes business partner's operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions
- Assists in the business process design or redesign and documentation as needed
- Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications and manages changes to such specifications
- Facilitates communication and gains commitment between business units to align solutions with business strategies
- Develops complex business cases
- Works on multiple projects as a project team member, at times as a project leader
- May coach and mentor less experienced staff
- Assists with facilitating project governance and corporate priorities
DAILY TASKS PERFORMED
- Assigned to units of work, varies from enhancements to team member on a large project.
- Responsible for gathering requirements, functional and detailed analysis/design, testing (unit, integration, system, user acceptance), implementation, documentation, warranty.
- Providing status to Project Manager/Lead, as needed.
- There is no development of production code required. However, WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF T-SQL (SCRIPTING FOR RUN ON SQL SERVER) IS REQUIRED AS THIS BA MAY BE ASKED TO DEVELOP SCRIPTS, BASED ON PROCESS FLOW CHARTS, TO PROTOTYPE BATCH BUSINESS PROCESS PRIOR TO DEVELOPMENT.
- Coordination with business and developers during all phases of development lifecycle.
- Breakdown of focus:
- Analysis/Design roughly 30-40%, Development (unit test, integration test, system test, UAT, Implement, Warranty) roughly 50-60%. Project collaboration 10%
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field or equivalent work experience.
- 5 TO 7 YEARS OF RELEVANT TECHNICAL OR BUSINESS WORK EXPERIENCE IN BUSINESS ANALYSIS/SYSTEM ANALYSIS
- In-depth knowledge of business requirement and corporate priorities.
- Ability TO CAPTURE REQUIREMENTS AND DEVELOP FLOW CHARTS AND DRAW UP CRYSTAL CLEAR ONE PAGE FLOW CHARTS AND THEN TAKE THAT INFORMATION AND GO INTO SQL SERVER AND ACTUALLY WRITE THAT PROCESS -REPLICATE THE STEPS AND WRITE SQL (TSQL SCRIPTS) TO CREATE A PROTOTYPE AND THEN SHOW THE BUSINESS, GAIN THEIR APPROVAL/BUY IN, AND THEN GIVE THAT INFORMATION TO THE DEVELOPMENT TEAM.
- EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH VISIO IS IMPORTANT (creating flow charts/diagrams, etc).
- SOME LEVEL OF SQL SCRIPTING (TSQL)EXPERIENCE
Advanced ability to gather/refine complex business requirements, recommend or make decisions on business requirements/interdependencies.
- Advanced ability to develop complex business cases.
- Advanced ability to create impact analyses to make recommendations.
- Advanced ability to present complex positions and strategies for business decisions, processes and plans.
- In-depth knowledge of compliance principles.
- In-depth understanding of the business architecture and its relationship to other architectures.
- Advanced ability to assess corporate impacts of changes and recommend strategies to senior management
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:
- Auto Industry knowledge a plus
- KNOWLEDGE OF LOGISTICS AND LOGISTICS PLANNING, OR SUPPLY CHAIN
- Knowledge of routes and mapping information system
- Knowledge in forecasting - taking that and projecting into the future would be helpful
- ANY EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH JIRA
- EXPERIENCE WORKING WITHIN A HYBRID ENVIRONMENT (WATERFALL/AGILE).
- FAMILIARITY WITH.NET DEVELOPMENT WOULD BE HELPFUL
- Any AUTOMATED TESTING EXPERIENCE IS A NICE PLUS
- Any EXPERIENCE IN MODERNIZATION
