    ABOUT THE ROLE imaware™ is looking for a highly skilled Backend Engineer who is passionate about coding, comfortable working in an agile environment, and embraces the opportunity to reshape traditional healthcare. Backend Engineers will be responsible for developing the serverless and containerized backend services which make up the core of imaware™'s new healthcare API ecosystem. The Backend Engineer will contribute actively to the architectural design process, and will write excellent, well-tested, and scalable code. Backend Engineers will work as a team with all members of the Engineering team to solve complex healthcare technology problems with creative, outside-of-the-box solutions, to provide an excellent product to our customers. They will be expected to follow best practices / standards and will have a broad range of responsibilities including:

    • Developing, testing, and debugging imaware™'s next generation healthcare backend and APIs
    • Deploying code to GCP Cloud Functions
    • Contributing backend code and performing code reviews
    • Promoting and following best practices such as Test-Driven Development, good documentation, writing DRY code
    • Working with other engineers in collaborative design and pair programming problem solving

    Minimum Requirements

    • 3-5+ years of backend-focused software engineering experience -- you can deliver on  your own and still bring your knowledge and ideas to the discussion
    • Knowledge and experience of microservices, microservice architecture, and Object-Oriented Programming
    • Experience developing APIs single-handedly
    • Comfort and knowledge working within a cloud environment (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
    • Experience with container-ized development, such as Docker
    • Highly communicative and collaborative -- you enjoy working with your fellow team members to find solutions to complex problems and workflows

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Working proficiency of TypeScript and/or NodeJS
    • Specific cloud experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
    • Experience and preference for pair-programming - we don't practice this all the time, but we are very collaborative in how we approach our solutions to difficult problems 
    • Startup and/or healthcare technology experience 
    • Preferably Austin-based or open to relocation, but will consider remote on a case-by-case basis
