    Houdini Technical Artist/Environments (100% remote from US or Canada)

    You will be joining an ambitious team of technologists, researchers, creatives, and product designers driving a paradigm change in AI. Through a proprietary combination of generative neural networks and cinematic CGI pipelines, this on-demand platform creates vast amounts of perfectly-labeled image data to train AI models at orders of magnitude increased speed and reduced cost.

     

    Current customers include Fortune 10 companies, top smartphone manufacturers, global technology enterprises, and leading AR/VR/metaverse companies.

     

    Overview:

    Mid to Senior Houdini Generalist, Technical Artist, or Technical Director with strong procedural experience and environment creation to join a growing Technical Art department. As part of the environment team, you will be responsible for creating procedural solutions for synthesizing interior and exterior environments with rich and photo-real detail. Following a core principle of “variety is key”, the aim is to provide solutions that allow for unique environments ranging in the hundreds or thousands.

     

    Your Impact:

    • Create and maintain procedural workflows/node-graphs for asset and environment generation
    • Provide valuable insight around set dressing and procedural ways to increase visual variety within a scene
    • Partner with back-end departments to maintain and improve the CG geometry (USD) pipeline
    • CG Generalist tasks, such as modeling, surfacing and look-dev

     

    Experience desired:

    • Experience using procedural tools to help create or "lay out" large environment pieces.
    • At least 3 years of AAA game or feature film VFX experience in a similar role
    • Strong experience with SideFX Houdini (specifically SOPs and PDG)
    • Experience with Pixar’s USD and VFX/game-dev geometry pipelines
    • Experience with procedural modeling
    • Working knowledge of Vray and/or Karma renderers
    • Ability to create/maintain Houdini HDAs
    • Bonus: experience with environment generation for use in game engines (Unreal or Unity)
