Mermaids, a well-established women’s clothing boutique in the heart of Carlsbad Village, has immediate openings for an experienced, outgoing and dependable, polished and professional Sales/Styling Associate who is available approximately 24-32 hours per week to join our team.

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys fashion, styling customers and selling.

The Perfect Fit

Our ideal candidate has previous experience working in a women’s clothing boutique or fashion retailer such as White House Black Market, Chico’s, Anthropologie, Nordstrom or a similar customer-focused fashion environment.Our customers span a wide range of ages, with many being mature women. We especially value sales associates who genuinely understand that customer, can relate to her style and lifestyle and enjoy helping each customer they serve feel confident, beautiful and well put together.

You should be comfortable approaching shoppers, learning what they are looking for and helping them put together complete outfits with clothing, jewelry and accessories.

Strong sales skills are essential in this position.

We are particularly interested in someone who:

Has previous women’s fashion or boutique retail experience

Has previous keyholder or opening/closing responsibility

Has strong customer-service and sales skills

Has an excellent eye for fashion and can confidently style complete outfits

Is comfortable suggesting additional pieces and accessories to customers

Is friendly, polished, energetic and genuinely enjoys working with people

Is dependable, punctual and works well as part of a small team

Can work independently when necessary

Is looking for a long-term position, rather than temporary work

Has flexible availability, including weekends, particularly Sundays, and some holidays

Is available to work some evenings in the Spring and Summer Season

Is comfortable standing and moving around the store for extended periods during a shift

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and responsible person to join our team as a Key Holder. As a Key Holder, you will open and close the store, as well as carry out various administrative duties. You will assist with customer service and ensure the store is clean and organized.

Responsibilities

Opening and closing the store

Managing the store’s security system

Assisting store manager and assistant managers on daily operations

Coaching/training employees

Opening and closing tasks

Keeping neat and organized workplace to ensure efficiency standards

Providing exceptional customer service with a positive attitude

Qualifications

Six months of retail experience

Key Holder/supervisor experience

Can handle a fast-paced working environment

Exceptional customer service

High School Diploma or equivalent
