The Head of Production is responsible for both both pre and
post-production workflows. S/he will mainly work closely with Head of
Graphics and other Editorial Leads as well as the studio staff, makeup
artists and engineering team to ensure the production workflow runs
smoothly. The role will require maintaining communication between bot
in-house and field producers, editors, graphics team, studio staff, make
up artists, and shooters. S/he will maintain weekly and daily schedules
for the editors.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Employ masterful knowledge of the technical processes involved in
pre-production, including camera, lighting, sound, and studio
- Forecast future software and equipment needs, and stay up to date
with latest technology
- Meet with producers to develop and improve scripts and program ideas
- Foster a work environment dedicated to innovation and
experimentation
- Thoughtfully conceptualize improvements to processes
- Organize base project structures and templates
- Identify ways to increase productivity and quality
- Pay precise attention to details and have a methodical approach to
work
- Draw up shooting schedules and estimate costs if necessary
- Ensure that productions run to schedule
- Manage all necessary licenses and clearances for productions
- Deal with unexpected circumstances and prepare workable alternative
plans
- Maintain pre-production management responsibilities, including
maintenance of schedules, workflows, and team-wide project
management
- Research and identify departmental equipment requirements
- Coordinate equipment maintenance
- Coordinate scheduling of freelancers and maintenance
- Recruit, interview, train, and evaluate pre-production team members
- Procure equipment and recruit camera operators, gaffers, grips, and
other technical production specialists when needed
- Team working skills and the ability to lead and motivate others
- Manage a team of audio and video editors
- Engage in the best practices of video editing to serve as a model
for the team
- Maintain production management responsibilities, including schedules
and workflows
- Coordinate equipment maintenance when required
- Research and identify departmental equipment requirements
- Organization of team data records
- Assess needs for editing scheduling, freelance, and engineering of
all post-production facilities
- Coordinate scheduling of freelancers and maintenance
- Work with production and intellectual property departments to assess
editing needs
- Forecast future software and equipment needs
- Identify ways to increase productivity and quality in AJ+ videos
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in digital video production, film, mass
communication, multimedia arts or other related field is preferred.
- 8-10 years experience
- Must have a solid proof of new filming techniques and understanding
of digital filming
