    MOMENTUM is hiring a STUDIO ARTS INSTRUCTOR for our Adult Day Program. As a Studio Arts Instructor, you will be directly responsible for coordinating visual and performing arts curriculum and instructional plans for the individuals who attend program. As the Studio Arts Instructor, you will be responsible for promoting the programs objectives, by creating an environment where people feel welcomed, invited, and supported in their personal and group exploration of the projects and hands-on activities.

    STUDIO ARTS INSTRUCTOR ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

    • Promotes a friendly, comfortable, and safe environment 
    • Respects and promotes the right of individuals 
    • Develops a curriculum and timeline related to the professional development of participating artists in the studio
    • Facilitates sequential goals in conjunction with the Program Manager and Director of Program Services 
    • Works with instructional team to create art-based objectives that incorporate increased dexterity, motor coordination, self-expression, and communication
    • Supports implementation of weekly instructional plans with staff to ensure continuity 
    • Coordinates studio daily activity with regard to the individual preference of the participants as well as their ISP goals
    • Documents curriculum to reflect courses offered and develops paths for professional growth with artists in the studio to build the Momentum Fine Arts disciplines 
    • Assess individuals regarding the need for specialized tools to maximize independence and personal expression 
    • Trains staff to utilize alternative supports to optimize independent art-making and personal expression
    • Coordinates internal and external art projects in conjunction with the Program Manager and Head Arts Facilitator
    • Collaborates with Program Manager to promote program objectives
    • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment
    • Effectively coaches staff to improve people supported program implementation
    • Assist people attending the program with program activities and community-based activities
    • Assist people attending the program with communication, feeding, mobility, toileting, hygiene, and other activities of daily living 
    • Follows and implements company policies 
    • Performs other duties as assigned to meet departments and/or business needs

    STUDIO ARTS INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Bachelors degree in art related field, Creative Arts Therapy, and/or five (5) years of skilled visual or performing arts practice; required 
    • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with adults developmental disabilities; required
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Communicate and work professionally and cooperatively with others; including staff and people supported 
    • Successfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
    • Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds
    • Valid and current proof of legal right to drive in California; preferred
