Established online music magazine on the path to becoming the next Pitchfork has an opening for a Publicist in charge of Scheduling & Assignments. This position needs a responsible intern with social pizzazz and good networking skills. An unpaid opportunity but no experience necessary and will be trained by previous PR Coordinator. The applicant should be unafraid to speak with and continue our ongoing relationships with publicists of major record companies and signed bands. Needs to become part of the team, and be in it for the long run. Grow with us and reap the benefits.
Hours vary according to your own schedule, and you work from home mainly through email.
Benefits include a chance to start developing a great resume in the music industry/PR business. Previous PR Coordinators have gone on to pursue graduate studies in PR and are currently working with major Los Angeles PR firms.
Typical day includes:
Sending email requests to publicists requesting press copies of albums
Answering requests for reviews from labels and bands
Notifying publicists and bands when reviews have gone live
Requesting press, photo, and backstage passes for writers to conduct show reviews
Keeping an accurate schedule of upcoming music and concert requests
Serving as the industry face of the magazine
Average 10-15 hours per week, and you can fit these hours anywhere in your schedule, and work from home.
