Job Summary: The PhD Intern assists with complex projects in the areas of recombinant protein expression, purification, or testing. The PhD Intern will work collaboratively on client driven development projects and independently on implementing process and testing improvement actions. The PhD Intern has the opportunity to participate in technical interactions with clients and will present on the work completed during the internship to the team at the end of the internship session. Responsibilities: Express recombinant proteins in microbial or eukaryotic expression systems at scales ranging from milliliter to hundreds of liters using shake flasks and automated bioreactors Purify recombinant proteins at scales ranging from milligrams to tens of grams using automated chromatography systems Characterize in-process samples and purified proteins using methods including, but not limited to, OD determination, metabolite profiling, SDS-PAGE, RP-HPLC, aSEC, LAL assay Develop assays for testing purified proteins against a panel of release criteria Complete project plans according to all specifications, including timeline and budget Evaluate and implement new technologies and work practices in the fields of protein expression, purification, and characterization Qualifications: Working towards a PhD in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, microbiology or a closely related field Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills Previous lab experience required When you join us, you'll also be joining Danaher's global organization, where 80,000 people wake up every day determined to help our customers win.
