Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
As a Buyer/Planner you will be responsible for handling the everyday purchasing of assigned products and suppliers; balancing purchases requirements, supplier performance with current inventory, keeping adequate supply of product without backorders and overstocks. The Buyer/Planner will report to the Supply Chain Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- The primary responsibility of the Buyer Planner is to effectively manage the procurement and replenishment of the inventory that is needed for production requirements
- The Buyer / Planner is responsible for the timely planning and scheduling of purchase orders, while managing immediate and long-term priorities to achieve or exceed targeted in-stock and inventory levels
- Use various tools, specifically ERP to ensure appropriate purchasing level and inventory levels are maintained
- This individual is accountable for ensuring that all assigned suppliers are given clear, concise direction with respect to item(s), quantity, and due date
- Communicate with suppliers on issues that need actions (expediting purchase orders, purchase order postponement, quantity changes, etc.)
- Ensure ERP standard pricing is accurate and up to date prior to placing purchase order with any suppliers
- Handle all tactical purchasing responsibilities associated with internal/external supply chain partners to maintain a high level of service
- Collaborate cross-functionally to achieve all business goals – including PPV and inventory targets
- Using ERP, review Part Shortage(s) and Expedite reports for Production and Sales requirements
- Coordinate reworks and return requirements to the supplier
- Discuss daily production schedule
