JOB SUMMARY
The Sr. Director of HSE is responsible for the overall development and
maintenance of effective Environmental, Health and Safety programs,
including managing compliance and directing the development, deployment
and continuous improvement of environmental, health and safety
management systems across Continental’s operations. This position will
be responsible for ensuring compliance with internal corporate policy
and external regulatory requirements and initiatives.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary purposes of this position are to: (1) plan, implement,
manage corporate environmental, health and safety (HSE) strategies,
policies, programs and processes to achieve peer leading results, (2)
ensure compliance by all company operations with all applicable
environmental, health and safety regulations and requirement, and (3)
establish and continually demonstrate expectations of striving to avoid
and minimize incidents and injuries.
- Responsible for developing, promoting and implementing a proactive,
positive safety and environmentally-focused culture throughout the
organization.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the HSE teams. Focus
on the leadership and professional development of the HSE
employees.
- Drive awareness and accountability for HSE performance through all
levels of the organization and provide support across responsible
functional teams. Ensure root cause and other analysis is completed
to reduce incidents.
- Develop, strengthen and sustain productive and collaborative working
relationships with all levels of the organization in an effort to
promote proactive use of the HSE organization.
- Develop, implement and manage all HSE programs and policies to
ensure compliance with Federal, state and local regulations.
- Monitor, interpret and analyze business impact of HSE laws, such as
NEPA, Title V, QuadO a, and other environmental regulations, as well
as other standards or regulatory initiatives that impact the
Business Unit in the geographic areas in which it does business.
- Gather and analyze appropriate HSE data to effectively communicate
company performance against established metrics to
management monthly.
- Track and evaluate leading and lagging indicators and collaborate
with company executives, site leadership, and insurance risk
management services to develop and implement corrective measures and
provide expertise in the inspection, analysis, audit and
investigation of our environmental and safety practices.
- Develop and lead company-wide multi-year HSE strategy to provide
program direction for leadership and management
- Develop, align and implement short term and long term HSE action
plans, projects, initiatives, goals and objectives that maintain the
balance between corporate objectives, business needs, and
operations.
- Compile, calculate and manage associated injury safety statistics
and complete OSHA and client recordkeeping requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor Degree in related field is required (Occupational Safety.
Health, Environment or Compliance or combination of related
certifications), Master’s Degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in managing HSE (Environmental Health
& Safety) in the oil and gas industry; exposure in upstream oil and
gas drilling, completions and production operations, required
- Proven leadership ability to effectively influence others
- Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, such as NEPA, Title
V, QuadO a; HSE related licenses, certifications and/or membership
in HSE professional associations are desired
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the
ability to present information to a diverse audience.
