    JOB SUMMARY

     

    The Region Environmental Specialist/Engineer will serve as a liaison between the Regions and assist with development and implementation of company-wide strategies and processes necessary to manage a broad spectrum of increasing regulatory and enforcement threats and ensure CLR’s compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations.  This position, which will play a key support and advisory role, will be embedded at the Region level to provide field-based perspective on environmental matters specific to the Region but necessary for corporate level consideration.

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work under the direction of the Region Environmental Manager and/or Supervisor, and, in concert with the Region Environmental Team, Environmental Team Air Specialist/Engineer, and Senior Director of Environmental.
    • Serve as the Region liaison on environmental issues applicable to the upstream oil and gas industry. 
      • Work collaboratively to facilitate knowledge sharing and communication related to regulatory issues, processes, systems and tools required for ensuring compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations.
      • Provide quality and focused support on complex regulatory issues through regulation review and interpretation.
      • Participate in the development of processes, systems and tools to manage environmental compliance obligations related to air, water, waste, and wildlife and be a skilled user of the systems as part of the team effort to manage environmental compliance obligations.
      • Support processes to ensure that environmental risks associated with new projects are understood and mitigated and provide routine status updates to stakeholders.
      • Coordinate and/or lead the environmental self-assessment activities between regions.
      • Conduct training and/or awareness programs for employees, officers, directors and contractors.
      • Meet with regulators, elected officials, and community representatives.
    • Ensure CLR’s compliance with applicable air laws and regulations.
      • Support the daily environmental permitting and compliance work of the Region.
      • Stay current with local and state environmental permitting and compliance obligations.
      • Develop and maintain required specific source data, such as equipment sources for GHG reporting.
      • Participate in representing the Region’s requirements and input into software implementation and on-going management of software such as Site View and EHS Insight.
    • Provide leadership on Emerging Issues (any issue that poses an operational or financial threat to our company). 
      • Work across department lines to develop effective strategies for Emerging Issues and mitigate the threats they pose to our company's long-term profitability by functioning as an active supporter of the multidisciplinary Emerging Issues Team.
      • Support development of our Environmental Team Weekly Report, through which we seek to educate and influence our leaders so they are equipped to make solid business decisions which properly account for environmental considerations.
      • Participate in the development of comments and data in support of CLR’s efforts to educate elected officials about the true impacts of proposed laws and regulations and influence federal and state agency regulations and policies.
    • Develop and conduct environmental training. 
      •    Participate in developing and sharing best practices across the Regions and company and ensure environmental risks for the company are understood and mitigation plans are in place.

    •  

    • Bachelor’s degree in an Environmental or Engineering discipline from an accredited University or College

    • Minimum of 3 years of multi-media environmental experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred.

    • E&P and multi-site environmental compliance support experience are preferred.

    • Valid driver’s license

    • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to stoop, stand, walk, pull, carry instruments, and climb stairs and ladders for extended period of time

    • Regular bending, crouching, pulling and kneeling to check equipment and gauges

    • Ability to one arm carry up to 25lbs. without assistance

    • Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs. without assistance

    • Work safely with machinery and equipment

    • Must be able to exert up to 40lbs. of force occasionally and up to 20 lbs. frequently to move or manipulate objects

    • Working environment includes exposure to extremely loud noises in field, Hazardous Chemicals, and Hydrocarbons that may be under extreme pressure for which appropriate safety measures are required

    • Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time safely

    • The ability to inspect and have close visual acuity to perform activities.

    • Capable of driving distances of 150 miles or more per day during all types of weather conditions

    • Ability to work significant amounts of time as required in completing job responsibilities.
