Job Description

The Genomics and Data Sciences team is looking to hire one genomics scientist for the Eukaryotic Genomics team. The primary responsibility for this role is to build, maintain, and document the variant discovery bioinformatics pipeline in our cloud environment and help partners run projects in this environment. The role will also involve working with IT teams to manage genomic data sets and implement a genome browser for the R&D organization. Education requirements: • Masters degree in a relevant field (Genomics, Bioinformatics, Data Science) + 2 years relevant experience. • Experience constructing and maintaining bioinformatics workflows. The ideal candidate will have: • Familiarity with GATK4 bioinformatics software, particularly the variant discovery workflow and best practices. • Experience working in a cloud environment (e.g. AWS cloud). • Experience constructing durable bioinformatics pipelines that partners can use. • Communicates well with bioinformaticians and scientists on other teams to understand their bioinformatics needs. • The ideal candidate will be an independent worker who takes initiative, challenges assumptions, communicates effectively, and has experience running high-throughput genomics pipelines. • Proficient with Python and git. Nice to have • Genomics or population genetics background. • Experience with AWS cloud computing.
