  • Responsibilities

    Handle a full range of legal matters that arise in a leading edge technology company, serving as key legal advisor to the executive staff and management team.  Expand internal legal involvement and oversight of legal processes, policies and governance.  Manage a team responsible for contracts, government affairs, patents and IP protection, export and trade compliance.

    You will be responsible for managing the legal department for nLIGHT’s expanding businesses in Vancouver, Washington and Hillsboro, Oregon. You need to be a hands-on professional with strong business support and communications skills.  We are seeking a self-starter with very high personal and professional values, strong work ethic and positive attitude.  This position reports to the VP, Finance.

    FUNCTIONS

    • Draft, review and negotiate agreements
    • Advise on legal aspects of the company's financing, including regulatory filings and advising on business structures and legal entities.
    • Assist with litigation matters as needed
    • Oversee the selection, retention, management and evaluation of outside counsel
    • Partner with Finance and HR on general corporate matters and HR matters
    • Work with other functional and international teams to ensure they have the tools to address basic contract issues, nondisclosures, export compliance and other key areas
    • Identify areas for improvement and follow through to drive related changes

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Doctor of Law (Juris Doctor) Degree
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a law firm or inhouse environment.
    • Direct experience with high tech manufacturing and international subsidiaries is a plus.
    • Strong working knowledge of Delaware corporate law, SEC regulations and UCC 
    • Proactive and highly organized, with experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
    • Must enjoy new challenges and fast-paced environment
