  • Responsibilities

    nLIGHT is seeking a Production Buyer. The Production Buyer’s key roles are analyzing MRP requirements and purchase requisitions, maintaining inventory levels, placing orders and confirming orders, working directly with suppliers, manufacturing and engineering. This position is responsible for timely procurement of a broad range of items (domestic and foreign) including production material and MRO/Indirect purchases necessary to support requirements for sustaining production. This position works under minimal supervision.

      RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Evaluate and maintain MRP for assigned items and ensure system validity and integrity.
    • Coordinate incoming material to meet demand, including issuing purchase orders and managing reschedule messages.
    • Conduct the RFP process for Operations Capital, tooling and Engineering projects and issue purchase orders to support indirect requirements.
    • Maintain communication with suppliers in order to monitor purchase order delivery, shipment tracking, short or late shipments
    • Manage disposition of rejected, excess, and obsolete parts in accordance with company policy
    • Coordinate resolution of invoice discrepancies.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:   

    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, manufacturing operations, business administration, or operations management or equivalent experience
    • Minimum five years of purchasing experience, preferably in in a high paced working environment
    • A working knowledge of procurement in an ERP/MRP environment. AX experience is a plus
    • Self-driven, results oriented, and motivated to work effectively without direct supervision
    • Strong organization skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
    • Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills
    • Ability to make decisions and solve practical problems with a variety of variables in situations where standardization may be limited
